Organization Overview

The International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) supports research and education in yoga and serves as a professional organization for yoga teachers and yoga therapists worldwide.

Our mission is to establish yoga as a recognized and respected therapy.

Founded in 1989, IAYT has consistently championed yoga as a healing art and science. Membership is open to yoga practitioners, yoga teachers, yoga therapists, health care practitioners who use yoga in their practice, and yoga researchers. School membership is open to schools with yoga therapy training programs.

IAYT accredits yoga therapy training programs around the world and certifies individual yoga therapists (C-IAYT). IAYT has over 5,000 individual members from over 50 countries, over 170 member schools, 70 accredited programs and 3400+ C-IAYTs.

IAYT is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Position Overview

The Associate Director (AD) works with the Executive Director (ED) in a management and organizational support role.

The AD will work collaboratively with the management team and in particular, the key functions of accreditation, membership and certification. Guided by the ED and with regular interaction with the management team, this individual will be the project manager of strategic initiatives. Assessment and evaluation of internal processes and procedures will be a core responsibility of this role.

The position reports directly to the Executive Director.

Major Responsibilities of the Position

Strategic initiatives

In collaboration with the management team, track and evaluate the impact and progress of key strategic plan initiatives and provide recommendations from a sustainability and operational perspective.

The IAYT Strategic Plan has four main priorities. Priority Two of the IAYT strategic plan is implementing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) across the organization. A key function of the AD will be as staff liaison to the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) Committee, which is due to launch by the end of 2nd quarter 2023.T he AD will collaborate with the staff as project manager for the implementation of IAYT DEI Competencies and initiatives.

Human Resources

As needed, work with the ED and/or managers to provide support for recruitment, hiring, release and performance review of personnel. Maintain oversight and regular updates of volunteer policies, procedures and onboarding processes.

Update and review regularly the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) handbook.

Engage with an organizational structure that optimizes full and part-time staff in multiple locations with varied skill sets and responsibilities. Along with the ED and the management team, generate and share relevant content to coach, empower and engage staff to continue to foster a workplace culture of equity and inclusion.

Operations

Assess current employment and administrative policies and procedures for key functions and for the day-to-day operation of the nonprofit. Support development of a sustainable multi-year budgeting process.

Develop/deploy regular assessments to evaluate technical/logistical resources in support of efficient operations and troubleshoot/plan to address identifiable gaps.

Assist with planning, scheduling and preparation of agendas and/or content for meetings and meeting scheduling where relevant and noted by the ED.

Qualifications

Required:
• Strong communication, collaborative/consensus driven work style
• Association Management System (AMS) and/or Customer Relationship Management (CRM) experience, e.g. YourMembership, MemberClicks, SalesForce
• Savvy technical skills including familiarity with workforce support tools e.g. Asana, Slack, Google Workspace, DropBox, Zoom, and MS Office
• Team and project management experience

• Financial forecasting and budgeting skills
• Human resources management background
• DEIA policy and competencies implementation
• Your Membership (YM)/Community Brands knowledge
• Non-profit administration and/or previous non-profit board experience

• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Awareness of proper body mechanics to prevent injury
