In collaboration with Lucasfilm, the Star Wars FPS Team is developing a new AAA FPS in the Star Wars galaxy. Inspired by classic titles like Dark Forces and Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2, our story-driven single player game is being developed from the ground up leveraging the power of Unreal Engine 5. We are seeking a Principal Character Artist with the passion and... know-how to help drive the creation of the galaxy’s most diverse characters and creatures. As the Principal Character Artist on our Star Wars FPS team, you will help drive our character creation process and play a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining a high quality level. Respawn embraces a highly collaborative and iterative development process, so this role will involve working heavily with a variety of other departments and feature teams. The ideal candidate is an industry leader in their craft who can also help mentor and develop skills with the rest of their team. This position is a challenging and exciting opportunity to bring a wide variety of characters, creatures, and aliens to life.
What you’ll do…
• Work closely with the Art Director and Lead Character Artist to establish high artistic standards and techniques.
• Lead the way by developing new production techniques or exploring new technology.
• Assist the Lead Character Artist in training and mentoring other team members.
• Work with Technical and Engineering teams to ensure characters are built efficiently to a high technical standard.
Ideally, you will have…
• Experience shipping at least two AAA games as a character artist and actively involved in R&D and pre-production.
• Excellent understanding of anatomy, proportion, silhouette, color theory, and other artistic fundamentals.
• A mastery of modern character related production software and techniques.
• A solid understanding of rigging, skinning, LOD creation, budgets, and other technical requirements of building optimized content.
• A strong understanding of PBR, lighting, materials, and other rendering related technology and how they apply to character art.
• Experience with facial animation, FACS, photogrammetry or blendshape acquisition is a plus.
• A strong collaborative working style, with an interest in teaching and mentoring.

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We are looking for a Senior Rendering Engineer to join our growing team. We're building a new Star Wars experience and want to build upon the new technologies of Unreal Engine 5.
Responsibilities
• Reporting to the Lead Rendering Engineer, you will develop and extend rendering systems to help the team achieve the game vision
• Foster an effective relationship between rendering and content teams to successfully deliver features
• Proactively identify issues, propose and implement solutions
• Guide junior engineers and share knowledge with content and technical team members
Required Qualifications
• 2+ years of experience with C/C++
• Experience with HLSL or other shader languages
• History of delivering graphics systems which satisfy content team expectations
• Proficient at memory management, multithreading, and optimizing game performance
• Willing to embrace a remote-first approach to work and communication
Desired Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or relevant field
• Experience with Unreal Engine or console game development
• Aware of industry trends for real-time rendering
• Familiarity with debugging tools such as RenderDoc or PIX
