We are currently in search of an Area Distribution Supervisor to support our local distribution team. This full time position offers medical, dental and vision benefits, Paid Time Off, a generous 50% off discount on Scholastic merchandise, and a 401k.

• Sacramento, CA

The estimated pay range for this role is as follows:

$64,000 - $102,400

Qualified candidates will be able to compile and maintain reports relating to our distribution activities, support activities and projects, and provide assistance for our Distribution Supervisors and Driving Teams. This candidate will support our mission to encourage reading and promote lifelong learning, and demonstrate our values of caring and respect for all people.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Responsible for cost control, demand planning, labor, and staffing to ensure execution at lowest possible cost.
• Responsible for customer service improvement, being the face of Scholastic, and exceeding expectations before, during, and after school visits.
• Responsible for continuous improvement with external vendors to ensure when driver support is needed, it mirrors Scholastic expectations.
• Responsible for promoting internal opportunities to fill hybrid driver positions thru either DAP or Non-CDL programs.
• Responsible for multiple site management to include strong partnership with local management.
• Responsible for achieving multi-territory distribution budgeted goals, including metrics, efficiency, and compliance.
• Support corporate to oversee truck specifications and preventive care program of all vehicles to assure minimal maintenance costs and safety of vehicles.
• Implement and execute programs, Company policies, procedures, systems, processes, initiatives, etc., in an efficient and effective manner, in accordance with Distribution directives.
• Maintain accident and safety records to ensure compliance with driver point system, CSA2010, and e-log compliance.
• ELD SME for all on-board computer issues, maintenance, training and support, and metrics.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible for documentation of disciplinary issues as they relate to CSA2010.
• Audit fair routing to confirm timely, efficient and accurate deliveries of book fairs.
• Work in partnership with Fleet Department on proper record keeping for drivers (DOT, etc.) and report of mileage and fuel for State Fuel and Use Taxes, direct route summary, driver accuracy report, DRM files, etc.
• Ensure that drivers are properly trained in safety and other areas necessary to be effective.
• Maintain monthly driver safety meeting documentation and partner with Driver Leads to ensure 100% network compliance.
• Oversee the completion of all required insurance forms in compliance with motor vehicle accidents and personal property loss in a timely and efficient manner and distribute to appropriate parties as required.
• Reduce expenses by assuring proper cost controls are in place and functioning properly through process standardization.
• Maintain business confidentiality relative to personnel, pricing, promotion, customer lists and distribution methods.
• Use ELD reporting and tools to manage truck and driver performance, anticipate maintenance issues and driver coaching opportunities.
• Provide branch guidance and support for all initiatives and roll outs pertaining to distribution. (i.e. Safety week).
• Provide territory level reporting on all driver metrics at an actionable level.
• Improve customer service scores through targeted training and initiatives with the field.
• Maintain PCI compliance in all areas of the Easy Scan/POS process and provide on-going training as needed.
• ELD SME for all on-board computer issues. Maintenance, training and support, and metrics.
• Support corporate with managing DEP as well as other driver acknowledgements and awards.
• Serve as a resource and trainer for DOT and OSHA compliance.
• Develop, administer, and maintain DOT audit readiness for territories.
• Responsible for seasonal demand forecasting for logistic needs for territory branches.
• Manage the top ten difficult deliveries by branch and monitor progress in this area.
• Lead and conduct projects to improve overall distribution effectiveness.
• Monitor and understand freight costs for restocks, transfers and hub to spoke moves to drive improvement.

Qualifications
• Minimum Bachelor degree preferred.
• Minimum of four (4) years of distribution related experience.
• Previous background in distribution, supply chain or fleet operations desired.
• Experience/knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations-DOT and OSHA regulations compliance required.
• Prior experience with a sales/service distribution organization preferred.
• Ability to analyze, develop, initiate, and implement plans and strategies to achieve goals.
• Strong computer skills; ability to navigate through the internet, MS Office and email preferred.
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and direct associates.
• Ability to prioritize and meet critical deadlines.
• Ability to work over-time and weekends as needed.
• Strong team player and the ability to get along with co-workers.
• Good verbal/written communication skills, basic math skills, and ability to read.
• Valid driver license and acceptable motor vehicle report. (If operating company vehicle-motor vehicle record check and drug screening)
• Understands basic revenue models, P&L and profitability.

The Research Manager will support the daily operations of the Research & Validation Department.
