The Arizona Water Innovation Initiative (AWII) is a new partnership with support provided by the State of Arizona designed to provide immediate, actionable, and evidence-based solutions focused on research and development from ASU and other statewide water experts to help to ensure a secure and resilient water supply for the state of Arizona. This role is responsible for uncovering and distilling technical information about water-related topics into understandable messages and stories for public consumption.

Under general direction, performs work of considerable difficulty creating, managing, supporting, and coordinating water communications, promotions, events, and public relations functions of the initiative. Develops and maintains professional relationships throughout the University, local, regional, and national communities to promote goals and programs and the impact of the initiative.

Catalyzes understanding, awareness, and knowledge of ASU’s water research discoveries, and solutions, and develops innovative approaches to engagement that creates awareness, and personal meaning - inspiring action.

This role reports into ASU Knowledge Enterprise strategic marketing and communications with close working relationships with the ASU Media Relations and Strategic Communications team as well as other communication teams around the university to develop and oversee implementation plans for gaining local and national recognition of AWII.

Essential Duties
• Supports the creation of water products that communicate scientific information, such as documents, journal submissions, presentations at scientific conferences, and digital applications to garner awareness of AWII.
• Develops strategy and oversees audience development along with the execution of water research communications materials. Coordinating with education/outreach. Ensures consistency in AWII language and design of communication efforts including media and publicly disseminated research information.
• Interacts with water subject matter experts (SMEs) to collect scientific information for communications products, as well as review and edit materials written by SMEs. Develops, oversees, and refines efficient work processes for collecting, maintaining, and processing scientific data; as well as creating scientific communications products.
• Ensures that varied communication products are consistent with one another and aligned with the university’s priorities and goals. Initiates and oversees tasks completed by outside vendors contracted to create scientific communications products and serves as a point of contact for AWII researchers, staff, and outside partners.
• Assist staff in the preparation of written fundraising activities. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, science journalism, science policy, or related field AND eight years of experience in planning and implementing a comprehensive communication/marketing program for an organization, including five years of supervisory experience; OR, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

The Department of Translational Neurosciences at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix is looking for a Researcher/Scientist III to study brain circuitry function and its role in various paradigms of human disease. Projects include understanding the integration of fast and slow neurotransmission pertaining to neurological and neuropsychiatric diseases including mental illness, drug addiction, gut-brain comorbidity, chemobrain, and neuronal injury.

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team within the setting of an outstanding new facility with capabilities in neurophysiology, imaging, behavioral, bioinformatic, and other advanced approaches. The position is part of well-funded research program and will provide the opportunity to produce high impact publications and establish a record of grant award funding. The candidate will be mentored in career development toward independent research and training to become a principle investigator. Enthusiastic applicants with several years of research experience in neurobiology, physiology, biochemistry, molecular pharmacology, or multi-omic analyses are encouraged to apply.

A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Ayman Fanous in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix, investigating psychiatric disorders. Duties & Responsibilities
• Develops, designs, and conducts one or more small or moderately complex research projects in line with plan. Responsible for operation of a specialized research area or lab.
• Formulates research methods and develops research criteria.
• Familiarizes themselves with research literature, design of daily research experiments.
• Conduct various research projects related to etiological mechanisms underlying neuropsychiatric disorders. This will involve extracting clinical information from both research databases as well as large-scale electronic medical record (EMR) databases, to examine the relationship between genes and clinical outcomes. Such outcomes include symptomatic presentations, chart diagnoses, vital signs, laboratory values, and free text.
• May co-author and may present results with principal investigators at meetings or conferences. Writes and submits papers to peer-reviewed journals
• Participates in acquiring research funding including writing grant proposals.
• Oversees day-to-day operation of project and may supervise support personnel.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
• PhD in psychology, statistics, or related field of study.
• One to two years of research experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner orally and in writing.

• Experience in longitudinal analysis and multilevel analysis.

• Knowledge of natural language processing to extract phenotypic information from free prose is desirable.

• Skilled in data-driven exploratory approaches such as machine learning.

• Demonstrated ability to independently develop reports and manuscripts and present findings in tabular, oral, written, and/or graphic formats. Prior experience in writing scientific manuscripts and grant proposals is highly desirable.

POSITION SUMMARY

• Conducts initial review of proposed contract language. Reviews and revises proposed contracts, ensuring compliance with company policy/guidelines and legal requirements. Assess business terms to be sure the contract supports the company/business unit goals. Works directly with vendors/payer to negotiate and resolve contract issues, preparing contract documents for approval and execution by appropriate company leader.
• Drafts and reviews contracts or other related documents for execution by appropriate company leader. Verifies intent of proposed contract with internal and external customers (including company and vendor/payer legal counsel).
• Serves as a resource for internal and external clients to interpret contract language and resolves contract issues by reviewing and interpreting contract terms and originating contract documentation.
• May participate in major projects as needed.
• This position works independently, reviewing, writing and revising contract language. This position works with vendors or other payers to negotiate contracts which are within company policy/guidelines and legal requirements. Internally interfaces with all levels of company management. Externally interfaces with vendors or other payers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Requires a Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school.

Requires a minimum of two years of legal experience preferably relating to contract drafting, preparation and analysis. Must possess demonstrated skill in problem analysis and resolution; contract drafting; oral and written communication. Requires highly developed interpersonal and listening skills. Must be able to function independently, possess demonstrated flexibility in multiple project management. Requires strong computer skills, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrated experience with contract drafting and negotiation. Law firm experience.
