The ideal candidate has a passion for breaking news, showbiz, politics, sports, visual storytelling, is a team player, and has a vast knowledge of current events.

This role will be responsible for the following:
• Researching live news, showbiz, sports & political events
• Photo editing
• Completing photo requests for the editorial team
• Pitching photos for stories
• Negotiating rates with agencies and freelance photographers
• Frequently checking the website to ensure the best possible images are being used
• Create visually appealing composites for the homepage
• Making image galleries for the site.

The ideal candidate has:
• At least 3 years of experience with a multi-platform media digital/print brand

Job Description

The SEO team at The New York Times plays an essential role in reaching and growing our biggest audience channel: Organic search. Our team is responsible for both defining and executing the technical SEO strategy work on nytimes.com , theathletic.com, cooking.nytimes.com. The technical arm of the SEO team partners closely with engineers and project leads on the product side to ensure the latest technical SEO best practices are in place, the site’s technical health is sound, and other teams across the company are following Google’s guidelines.

We are looking to grow our technical SEO team and are in search of an experienced candidate to help drive more search success and solve complex SEO problems. You will be responsible for improving The New York Times and The Athletic’s search visibility by enhancing our products’ technical capabilities and performance. You will analyze search performance, develop search strategies, and lead initiatives to grow search. Your work will not only guide product thinking and implementation, but it will continue to elevate The New York Times and The Athletic as the gold standard in SEO.

This role is a highly cross functional role with visibility across several departments with the primary responsibility of creating a Technical SEO culture and setting a strategic technical direction. The Technical SEO manager will report to the Sr. Director of technical search.

Responsibilities Include
• Partner with the SEO technical team to identify strategic search projects for cross-functional digital teams (engineering, design, product)
• Project manage the execution of technical SEO initiatives on The New York Times and The Athletic aimed at improving our search visibility, working in close collaboration with engineers and product leads
• Perform ongoing technical audits; identifying enhancements, bugs, and fixes, and filing them in JIRA
• Develop and monitor bespoke dashboards and tools used to track various SEO projects and initiatives

Qualifications
• A minimum of 4 years of SEO experience; with heavy emphasis on the technical side while deeply understanding the landscape of the Web and be committed to interpreting and responding to data
• Ability to sit at the intersection of current technical search best practices and the implementation details to achieve them
• Experience translating between technical and non-technical partners and stakeholders, and helping to weigh the impact of technical SEO work on UX and Audience

The New York Times is seeking inventive and motivated interns to join the Audience Insights team. In this role, you will engage in audience and product research across the company.

About the Audience Insights Team

We are a multidisciplinary team of researchers who conduct qualitative and quantitative across product, design, and marketing research. Our mission is to help The Times grow by understanding our audience. We uncover and tell stories about why they behave as they do, how they feel and why. We connect sentiment with behavior, and determine the best ways to express our journalism and brand value in order to drive deeper engagement and subscriptions.

As an Audience Insights intern, you will:

Gain experience in some of the following:

Completing a literature review

Designing and moderating user feedback sessions/interviews

Qualitative research design and analysis

Designing and fielding a survey

Quantitative research design and statistical analysis

You will get the chance to contribute to the larger New York Times audience strategy by scoping a multi-phase research project.

Experience different teams and learn about multiple audiences across The Times from Subscriber Experiences, Storytelling and Publishing, Growth, and Games.

About You

You are passionate about better understanding people and how they interact with the world. You have experience in qualitative or quantitative research and are looking to expand your knowledge as well as gain practical experience. You get curious about the why.

Requirements:

Graduate level candidates preferred (open to undergraduate rising seniors in a relevant program) or relevant experience

Experience or coursework in a few of the following areas: psychology, statistics, anthropology, sociology, human-centered design, HCI, data analysis

Experience in research interviewing (or observing interviews, note-taking, synthesis)

Some familiarity or awareness in the survey development / writing and analysis process

Extensive experience creating Powerpoint-type presentations (report writing and table/chart development)

Proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets, Docs, and Slides

Strong interest in digital media and cross platform experiences

This is a reporting position : You do not need to be a statistician, a web developer, a data scientist or a database expert, although candidates with those skills are welcome.

But you do need to have experience reporting and driving data-related enterprise, and the ability to recognize interesting or promising opportunities to use data to cover a story in new ways.

You should be independent enough to publish regularly on your own but also willing and eager about the prospect of working in small groups, particularly with journalists whose skills are different from yours.

A successful candidate should have at least a basic command of spreadsheets and a history of unearthing new data sets, whether you do so using a computer or a telephone.

The annual base pay range for this role is between $104,684.83 and $125,000.00.

Reporting to the CISO, the Director of Security Architecture serves as the strategic leader of security architecture efforts for the enterprise information security and product security organizations. We are looking for a talented individual to lead a high-performing team of security architects creating cutting-edge security solutions and infrastructures that will make sure that NYT systems are secure and resilient.

• Working knowledge of at least one programming language (Python, Go etc.)
• Hands on technical experience with cloud infrastructure and concepts, specifically the security aspects thereof.
• Hands on technical experience with application security topics such as the OWASP top 10.
• Hands-on technical experience with SIEM & logging tools (Sumo, Splunk, Kibana, Qradar) and the ability to extract actionable intelligence from large volume aggregated log storage.
• Own all elements of people management, including developing and hiring a high-performing team.
• This role may require limited on-call hours. An on-call schedule will be determined when you join, taking into account team size and other variables. On-call hours are unpaid, unless informed otherwise by your manager.

Required Experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other related discipline or 10+ years of experience in an engineering-based role with technical delivery experience.
• Experience developing for and deploying to the public cloud and technical experience across key security domains including access management, network security, data protection, application security, change management, etc.
• Security experience across cloud architecture deployments (AWS, GCP), governance, and general cloud security controls
• Experience architecting and developing IaaS, PaaS, & SaaS cloud solutions for large organizations)
• Experience with micro-services, containers, CICD tools e.g. Jenkins. and infrastructure as code solutions.

• Knowledge of the emerging cloud technologies and ecosystem and how to integrate security designs.

The annual base pay range for this role is between $190,000.00 and $230,000.00

• Well-versed in the concept of Loudness and mixing to different specs;
• Ability to quickly, calmly and creatively troubleshoot complex issues under pressure;
