Position Description

The Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) is currently recruiting for Developmental Specialist I in Las Vegas, Nevada. This recruitment will be used to underfill positions within the Developmental Specialist series. This recruitment may be used to fill current and future vacancies as they occur in the following programs: Autism Treatment Assistant Program (ATAP), Desert Regional Center (DRC) and Nevada Early Intervention Services (NEIS).

Developmental Specialists provide individual and group clinical, developmental and support services for individuals of all ages who have, or who may be at risk for, developmental delays, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, or related conditions, and social, emotional, and/or behavioral disorders. Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.

Incumbents develop and implement programs and treatment and service plans, provide direct services and case management, develop financial and community resources, and provide education, information and technical assistance to family members, other agencies and service providers regarding human growth and development. Developmental Specialists may be assigned to one of many specialized programs and facilities, and duties may be performed in the home, clinic, hospital, residential, outpatient, and community facilities, or similar settings.

Progression to the next level in the series may occur after meeting the minimum qualification, satisfactory performance, and with endorsement of the appointing authority.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood special education, human growth and development, psychology, counseling, social work or closely related field.

• The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.

Special Requirements
• A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for fingerprinting.
• A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
• Applicants must meet federal guidelines for Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional designation at the time of appointment.
• This position requires the ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
• Incumbents must possess or obtain an endorsement in Early Childhood Special Education issued by the Nevada Department of Education or a comparable certification issued by the Nevada Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part C office within three years of appointment to this series or a comparable certification. Accountabilities:

Mission Integration
• Partner with Education, Services and Health Research department to effectively communicate the LLS overall mission, programs, resources and priorities.
• Responsible for organizing mission centered, local donor cultivation events and prospecting high-impact donors for national stewardship activities

Fundraising & Relationship Building
• Drive high-impact peer to peer fundraising to achieve overall revenue goals.
• Provide input into the development of a strategic plan for the peer to peer fundraising products, including revenue, budget, goals and timelines.
• Execute innovative strategic plan developed annually and revised periodically to ensure team exceeds all revenue goals.
• Collaborate with local relationship team and national shared service partners throughout LLS.

Volunteer Management
• Responsible for the recruitment and cultivation of high-level volunteer committees
• Responsible for recruiting fundraising volunteers who participate in peer to peer fundraising products resulting in revenue growth and achievement of goals.
• Identify and network with constituents and key donors to engage their support of LLS fundraising products.
• Develop recruitment plans and actively secure new partners through independent research, prospecting and volunteer relationship building. Perform other related duties as assigned
