Responsibilities:

This position involves a 4-4 teaching load of primarily first- and second-year composition, with occasional other general education courses. Teaching is conducted in various modes including in-person, broadcast, and online. The composition courses consist of English 1010 (Introduction to Writing: Academic Prose) and English 2010 (Intermediate Writing: Research Writing in a Persuasive Mode), which emphasize outcomes of rhetorical awareness, critical thinking, information literacy, and composing processes. Teaching may also include introductory courses in developmental writing and literature, depending upon instructor expertise and departmental need. Lecturers are expected to establish and sustain a record of effective teaching and service. To enhance teaching, all composition teachers are invited to attend monthly professional development sessions that connect theory to practice, engage teachers in dialogue on critical pedagogies, and create space for community-building.

Qualifications:

A Master’s degree in English or related field and a record of successful teaching of undergraduate composition courses are required. Coursework and/or specialization in rhetoric and composition preferred.

The Department of English, Humanities, and Languages at Southeastern Oklahoma State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. The successful candidate will teach Early Modern English literature and English Education courses, as well as General Education and online Graduate courses... Candidates must have an ability to teach online and a willingness to obtain Quality Matters certification. Ph.D. in English or English Education in hand by June 1, 2023 required, as well as experience teaching English in middle or high school public schools. Given that Southeastern is a Native American Serving Non-Tribal Institution, experience working with Native American students and/or faculty is preferred.

The successful candidate will teach English Secondary Methods and Age of Shakespeare, as well as other courses as needed by the department. The successful candidate will also advise English Education majors and supervise English Education student teachers. Other responsibilities include compiling assessment data for reports such as the Program Outcomes Assessment Report (POAR) and the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and working with the Department of Educational Instruction and Leadership (EIL) and Teacher Education Services. Candidates will also be required to participate in scholarly activities.

Texas. Student enrollment on the campus(es) is approximately 5,300 and the campus is situated in rural Oklahoma. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The start date is August 1, 2023. Review of applications will begin January 15, 2023 and continue until filled. Position and responsibilities may require multiple campus assignments as well as varied time and delivery methods.
