As a Faculty Assistant you will:

+ Support faculty teaching by scheduling courses, and posting course materials, announcements, and student assignments/office hours via Canvas, the course management platform. Arrange course packets and obtain copyright for course materials, and arrange AV, catering, and other set-up needs. May support online learning with remote learning tools such as Zoom and video editing software.

Description: The Digital Content Specialist (DCS) has three primary responsibilities:
• Leading Harvard Magazine’s digital outreach for its contents and business operations;
• Writing social media posts and headlines for web and email, creating additional social content;
• Growing HM’s audience and brand awareness.

The DCS will serve as HM’s primary content promoter via social media and e-mail, working with both editorial and business colleagues to create content that increases awareness and establishes a real “voice” for the magazine, and a social calendar that ensures content is timely, relevant, and cohesive to larger social media strategy.

In that capacity, the DCS will serve as a liaison between the magazine and other Harvard University digital/social media accounts, helping to establish digital partnerships (podcast, video series, etc.) and endeavoring to reach new audiences.

Position Description

GENERAL ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:
• Manages complex calendars for faculty, and coordinates scheduling and logistics for meetings, appointments, and travel.
• Maintains and updates biographical information including CVs for faculty
• Provides general assistance to lab members
• Prepares appointments for incoming lab members, including paperwork for visa information data sheets, and may assist with onboarding new group members.

Basic Qualifications

3+ years of administrative office experience. Education beyond high school may count towards years of experience.

Additional Qualifications and Skills
• College degree, or an equivalent of college level coursework preferred.
• Cover letter strongly preferred.
• Relevant experience in an office environment; experience supporting faculty or executives, particularly with calendar management and travel; and experience supporting multiple principals strongly preferred.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work with interruptions, adapt to change, and respond quickly to last-minute alteration requests regarding calendars, schedules and travel.
• Prior work experiences that called for independent initiative, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision, make appropriate adjustments to work flow, and problem solve.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, follow-through, and dependability is essential.

Communication Skills:
• Ability to establish effective work relationships across all levels.
