The Content Publishing Specialist is responsible for finalizing required data updates and validations using database management systems (e.g. SQL, Excel). By ensuring data adheres to quality standards, they enable proper hinting and searchability for users to make new discoveries. The specialist also uses proprietary tools to publish historical collections to Ancestry.com, and are responsible for setting up the UI requirements for final display on the site.
What You'll Do...
• Complete assigned projects each month both timely and accurately
• Finalize data, publish, and define a user-interface for each assigned project
• Creatively problem-solve using SQL, Excel, etc.
• Become knowledgeable about standards and empowered to make key decisions about data treatment
• Help establish new and innovative ways to support the Publishing workflow
• Interact with several teams to successfully troubleshoot issues and find solutions
• Assist in maintaining training and troubleshooting documentation

The purpose of the Family History Department is to create inspiring experiences that bring joy to all people as they discover, gather, and connect their family-past, present, and future. • Bachelor's degree in Family History or related field with specialization in the United States and Canada, or equivalent research experience.
• High computer proficiency, especially with internet searching, Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office 365, Teams), and online video conferencing. Ability to quickly learn and use other, internal software.
• Working knowledge of FamilySearch products (FamilySearch.org, including the FamilySearch Catalog, Wiki, Historical Records, Family Tree, Memories, etc.)
• Advanced genealogical research skills.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to decipher and interpret handwritten records in English.
Preferred skills (Not required):
• Accredited Genealogist (United States or Canada area), Board-certified by Board for Certification of Genealogists, or equivalent experience in genealogy, history, or a related field.
• Canadian research expertise and knowledge of French records and language.
• Proficiency in other geographical research areas or languages.
Additional information:
• The part-time position will require working some Saturdays, holidays, and evenings.
• If we choose to interview you, we will require samples of your genealogical writing and your research and documentation skills.
• During interviews, you may be asked to demonstrate:
• Customer service skills.
• Technology skills.
• Document identification, deciphering, and translation skills.
We are looking for self-driven, creative thinkers who can:
• Assist with library operational needs (staffing and projects).
• Provide friendly, timely, and accurate research guidance and assistance to the public.
• Answer in-person United States and Canada genealogy research questions.
• Assist with collection development and acquisition for North America.
• Network and collaborate with the genealogical community.
