• Facilitates communication of attendance problems, issues, or concerns to building principal or assistant principal. Determines which attendance problems warrant higher administrative action.

Investigates infractions to determine if there are mitigating or aggravating circumstances that would make normal progression on Progressive Discipline Ladder inappropriate and assigns the appropriate discipline. Communicates consequences accurately to parents, students, teachers and counselors.
• Supervises the attendance secretary. Ensures the input of accurate daily attendance by the attendance secretary and supervises the maintenance of accurate attendance records. Confers with teachers regarding proper categorization of student excuses. Prepares, submits and maintains accurate attendance reports and documents attendance consequences in DUBVAX.
• Establishes proper attendance notification procedures and notifies parents through letters at 3, 4, 5, 10, 15 and 20 days of absence.
• Determines credit or no-credit work for academic coursework at 20 days of absence.
• Conducts Attendance hearings and facilitates Attendance Review Committee meetings in no-credit decisions with the appropriate administrator. Presents evidence to Attendance Review Committee.
• Represents the School District on attendance issues at court hearings and works with probation officers and caseworkers.
• Establishes guidelines for the selection of student attendance workers and selects and supervises student workers.

• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with school nurse, parents, staff and students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Provides and documents all first aid care and treatment to ill and injured staff and students, as well as preventative care for students with chronic health conditions.
• Performs nursing delegated procedures as indicated by doctor's orders.
• Properly sets up, administers and records all medications dispened in the clinic according to District Policy and Guidelines.
• Assists in the control of communicable diseases.
• Assesses, records and maintains all student immunizations to comply with the District’s Immunization Policy, and informs parents of non-compliance.
• Maintains and enforces compliance of all student emergency medical authorization forms.
• Performs health screenings and recording of student test results.
• Maintains awareness of all current student health concerns for the building.
• Responsible for ordering and maintaining all clinical supplies and equipment within a budget set by the building principal.
• Complies with all Federal, state and local laws and regulations for the maintenance, repair and operation of equipment and machines [OSHA].
• Assists the nurse in the surveillance and control of communicable disease.
• Participates in the identification of students suspected of being abused or neglected.
• Complies with all Federal, state and local laws and regulations for the storage, use and disposal of trash, rubbish, waste and hazardous material [OSHA].
• Maintains effective communications with the building nurse.
• Ensures the safety of students.
• Establishes and maintains cooperative professional relationships.
• Remains free of any alcohol or nonprescription controlled substance and abuse of any prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout employment in the district.
• Exhibits professional behavior, emotional stability, and sound judgment.
• Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, and intelligent human beings.
• Understands the legal responsibility to help instill in students the belief in, and practice of, ethical principles and democratic values.
• Maintains confidentiality and respect for confidential information at all times.
• Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
SALARY RANGE: $20.25/HR to $22.39/HR
