You'll be responsible for selling our suite of student recruiting solutions to Directors of Admissions at colleges and universities located in the Central time zone, including... presenting our offerings, negotiating deal terms and ensuring contracts get signed. This is a remote job and will report to the VP of Sales.

Here's what's so great about this job:

CollegeVine is a one-of-a-kind platform where high school students create profiles showcasing their academic accomplishments, extracurricular activities, intended future plans, and college preferences. Students then choose which colleges they want to share their profile with, connect directly with admissions teams, submit their applications, get accepted, and receive scholarships—all on the CollegeVine platform. Along the way, students have access to a curated community of licensed college advisors who help the students design personalized application strategies, improve their essays and understand their acceptance chances.

With nearly 2 million students already on the platform and a new student joining every 30 seconds, CollegeVine is the world’s largest student network and quickly becoming the go-to resource for every college-bound student.

We make money by partnering with colleges who want to connect with students that fit their ideal student profile. Colleges can leverage CollegeVine's unique pool of profile data—intentionally provided by students—to find their best-fit students and connect with them directly on our platform. Historically, college admission teams have had to resort to buying lists of student email addresses harvested from testing services and other list brokers, resulting in a sub-par communication experience for both students and colleges. CollegeVine provides a revolutionary leap forward in how colleges recruit students.

This job gets to work on making sure every college admissions team understands how to put our ground-breaking recruiting tools to work. Pretty cool, huh?

Oh, and we're a remote company with amazing teammates all across the country who work at CollegeVine for one reason: to make it easier for students to find and get accepted by the best college for their life goals.

Here's what you'd get to work on:
• Presenting CollegeVine's suite of recruiting solutions to senior enrollment and admissions leaders at colleges & universities
• Identifying key decision-makers, stakeholders and influencers and ensuring their questions & concerns are understood and addressed
• Negotiating pricing, commitments and other deal terms
• Positioning CollegeVine's products against alternative solutions and help customers understand the comparative ROI
• Developing and executing closing strategies and plans to get agreements signed
• Delivering reliable forecasts and pipeline updates
• Consistently closing new business at or above quota level
• Listening to the needs of the market and bringing those insights to the product and marketing teams

Here are the qualifications we're looking for:
• 3+ years sales experience as an account executive
• Ability to build relationships with and sell to senior executives and decision-makers
• Strong negotiation and closing skills
• Accurate forecasting and deal stage management
• Understanding of contract terms and conditions with the ability to create fair transactions
• Ability to assess multiple business opportunities and using data to prioritize
• Persuasive & clear verbal & written communication skills
• A burning desire to win
• Experience working in or selling to higher education a big plus

And of course we offer full benefits including health, dental, and vision coverage, 401k, flex time, remote office stipends and more.

Candidates only. No recruiters or agencies, please. Sorry, we do not offer relocation assistance.

CollegeVine is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive, innovative environment with the best employees. We provide employment opportunities without regard to age, race, color, ancestry, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, or any other protected status in accordance with applicable law.

Next year, nearly half of all US college-bound students will join CollegeVine and benefit from high quality, personalized, life-changing guidance—all for free. With a professional CollegeVine profile highlighting their achievements, many students will engage directly with colleges and eventually receive generous financial aid and direct admissions offers right on our... platform.

In short, we’re completely disrupting and modernizing college admissions with our direct-to-consumer guidance platform, and we’d love for you to join the talented, mission-driven team that is quickly becoming every high school family’s hero.

But make no mistake: though our mission will always be the bedrock of the company, we are uniquely positioned to capture a massive business opportunity in the coming years.

Currently, colleges, school districts, and families spend a combined $9B dollars each year on the post-secondary transition phase. What’s more, nearly all aspects of this market are outdated and inefficient, but industry-wide behavior shifts exacerbated by changing demographics, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Supreme Court ruling on affirmative action have all converged to form a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for CollegeVine.

As the winning platform company in our space benefitting from network effects, data moats, and an exceptionally strong brand, we expect to grow 10x in 2023 with a small, but highly efficient team—one that we hope you’ll be a part of!

To make good guidance possible, we focus on consumer technology, encompassing everything from innovative applications of machine learning to elegant data-driven experiences to non-exploitative social media and a fast-growing marketplace—all while staying true to a distinctly human purpose: turning crucial milestones into life-changing opportunities.

Our best known brand, CollegeVine, is revolutionizing the high school to college transition period. In contrast to just a few years ago, families can now explore schools efficiently, make the admissions process less lonely and stressful by connecting with peers, learn from the best admissions experts for free via livestreams, and construct school lists with known acceptance risk profiles thanks to our ML models. Using the CollegeVine platform, millions of students from all walks of life are making better decisions every year and finding new, valuable opportunities—all for free.

And this is just the start. Our vision is ambitious: to be the lifelong guidance platform for the next generation. We're growing rapidly and can't wait to meet mission-oriented teammates like yourself!

Who we're looking for

You know you're right for this position if:
• You seek ownership beyond your own work, and look to the product and company as a whole.
• You are a self-starter and internally motivated, with a strong desire to be part of a successful team that shares your high standards.
• You understand what it means to be entrepreneurial and resourceful. Perhaps you've launched your own side-project, worked at a startup, or helped a scrappy business grow quickly.

Qualifications

In addition to your awesome attitude and values, we're looking for someone with the following skills:
• Expertise with multiple programming languages (Ruby, Javascript, Python, Haskell, Go, etc...), and you're excited to learn more
• A track record of delivering high-value projects in fast-paced environments
• Expert at full-stack web development, but we're agnostic to whether it's been more front-end or back-end focused
• Excellent communication skills, particularly with non-technical team members
• Comfortable breaking complex projects down into small pieces and creating implementation plans
• 5+ years as a software engineer

It's an added bonus if you have:
• An interest or curiosity around typed functional programming (we use Haskell & Purescript extensively)
• Prior experience working with Ruby on Rails, or another MVC web framework
• Worked remotely before
• Gone through the US college admissions process, or can articulate how it works
• Prior experience mentoring or leading engineers

Your cover letter is a great opportunity to show us who you are and why this role appeals to you.
