Director of Auxiliary Communication

Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for the following position: Director of Auxiliary Communication in the Department of Auxiliary Enterprises.

Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To
• Serves as the senior/lead communication advisor to the vice president for auxiliary enterprises and chief sustainability officer, as well as other members of the vice president’s direct report team, providing communication leadership and expertise across a wide range of activities to include content creation (e.g., web, social, print, email), media relations, preparation of public remarks, and emergency response.
• Develops, executes, and oversees a comprehensive internal and external communication strategy designed to support Auxiliary Enterprises initiatives and activities, taking into consideration institutional image, message, positioning, mission, goals, priorities and accomplishments of the division and the University.
• Supervises, hires, trains, and leads auxiliary communication staff, manages the unit budget, and leads to efforts of divisional staff tasked with communication projects and initiatives.
• Ensures the consistent, clear, and appropriate use of all University, division, department, unit, products and services brands and marks per university and professional guidelines.
• Lead the work of staff at all levels executing communication tasks by providing editorial, training, recommendations, and direction as a representative of the vice president.
• Produce, organize, report on, and execute outstanding events, programs, and services on behalf of the division and its constituent departments in collaboration with colleagues and in consideration of the University’s and division’s calendar, traditions, and mission.

Requirements: A bachelor’s degree and relevant project management experience is required. Candidates must have a valid state driver’s license. A master’s degree and experience in communication in the context of auxiliary enterprises/services, student services, student affairs, or higher education is preferred.

The Learning Technologies and Data Librarian plays a central role in shaping data services, extended reality (XR) support and in fostering the tactile learning, entrepreneurship, and innovation that result from using makerspace technologies. The position also contributes to other aspects of departmental work including instruction, research support, and... faculty/student engagement. This is a 12-month faculty position reporting to the Head of Research and Scholarship.

The position will collaborate with faculty to foster creativity, innovation, tactile and experiential learning via makerspace technologies. The position also oversees data and data visualization services for students and faculty, including dataset acquisition, data literacy instruction, and data visualization instruction. Collaborating with library colleagues, this position manages data management services for faculty and students. The position also monitors, pilots, and suggests new and emerging technologies that support the work of the department, and serves as liaison to University programs that foster technology use.

The University Libraries are in the beginning stages of significant change, growth, and opportunity. A new library facility will open in 2024 that will host an expanded makerspace and data visualization and XR labs, quickly followed by a ground-up redesign of our existing library facility with newly re-envisioned study spaces featuring a new space for Archives and Special Collections.

Required Qualifications for this position include a Master’s degree in library science or information science from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent degree; strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills; demonstrating initiative, flexibility, and ability to work creatively and effectively in both collaborative and independent settings. Applicant should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to explain complex concepts to a wide range of users in individual and group settings.

Preferred Qualifications for this position include knowledge of makerspace technologies such as 3D printing, laser cutting, vinyl cutting and their pedagogical uses; evidence of, or interest in, XR and its applications in the curriculum; knowledge of data visualization technologies and data management practices.

Director of Education Abroad

If this sounds interesting to you, Coastal Carolina University’s Center for Global Engagement is accepting applications for just such a leader as our Director of Education Abroad who will serve as part of a dynamic team in the Center for Global Engagement (CGE) and with campus international liaisons in each college to advance education abroad initiatives as a part of the university’s strategic plan to increase accessibility to study abroad to a wider range of students and support global perspective raising through on-campus activities.

Reporting to the Associate Provost for Global Initiatives, this colleague will:

· Develop, manage, and evaluate strategic goal setting and implementation for education abroad opportunities in partnership with campus partners and disciplinary best practices to include study and internship, and engagement abroad programs such as short-term, long-term, faculty-led, conference, with attentiveness to best practices and advocacy for accessibility and inclusion in all programs and processes.

· Oversee and direct, with the support of the Education Abroad Services Coordinator, education abroad program processes from proposal development through approval processes, marketing and recruitment, inquiry and advising management, and program support in pre-departure, while underway and upon return.

· Support and advance inclusive education abroad and global perspective raising activities through oversight and effective utilization of Terra Dotta, T4, and social media, scholarships, and on-campus programming.

· Administer appropriate risk management practices and policies and advocate for data-driven adjustments to these processes and policies to support safe, healthy education abroad experiences for CCU community members.

· Ensure appropriate budget management practices in all education abroad accounts in compliance with state and institutional guidelines and processes.

Requirements: A bachelor’s degree with at least two (2) years of progressive experience in managing education abroad programs are required. Driver’s license and a current, valid passport without restriction to travel are required.

Preferred qualifications: A master’s degree and five (5) years of experience in managing study abroad programs or project portfolios with budgetary responsibility at a public university are preferred. Experience with Terra Dotta, Datatel, T-4, and social media systems is preferred. Experience with prestige international scholarship programs such as Fulbright, Rotary, Gilman, Boren, or Critical Languages is preferred. Clinical/counseling experience in a college/university counseling center or a multidisciplinary outpatient mental health center, experience in program development, assessment and evaluation, and demonstrated experience meeting the mental health needs of a diverse population is also required. Candidates must be licensed in South Carolina to practice counseling and provide clinical supervision to counselors, or demonstrate eligibility for appropriate licenses within one year of hire.
