Summary

NBC News Now is expanding big time and fast. We need a creative, passionate team of journalists to make the magic happen at NBC News NOW Daily, a show that airs on both our streaming network and NBC broadcast affiliates.

Responsibilities/Job Duties
• Work with senior producers and EP to build daily rundowns and oversee changes when breaking news hits

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
• You’ve been working in broadcast, live streaming or cable for 5+ years.
• You've worked on live daily shows for 3+ years.
• You have at least 1+ years’ experience as a line producer.
• Demonstrated and proven excellent editorial judgement and understanding of journalistic standards.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a control room including but not limited to: moving the rundown as needed, backtiming a show in real-time, remaining calm and communicative under pressure, writing and copy editing on the fly.
• You have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of relevant working experience.
• You are willing to work in New York, New York
• This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of 3 days per week.

We are looking for somebody who is able to hold court with a room full of executives and savvy enough to spot trends and news in the institutional asset allocation and investment industries. In this role, you will work with industry sources to deliver daily news stories, scoops, and larger trend pieces -all backed by excellent writing skills.

What You'll Do
• Produce feature-length and short news articles for the Chief Investment Officer website
• Develop close contacts within the institutional asset allocation and investment world
• Break news by working sources, reporting from conferences and attending meetings
• Manage multiple assignments while meeting daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines
• Source and produce interviews with pension/endowment/foundation/investment manager executives and industry thought leaders
• Help to produce daily and bi-monthly newsletters and post stories to the web
• Research the world's top retirement plans

Our Dream Candidate Has
• 1 or more years' experience as a reporter or financial industry professional who takes initiative in finding, pitching, and delivering well-reported and "actionable" stories about issues affecting pension funds and other institutional investors in the form of spot news and long-form articles
• Ability to multitask and to deliver two news stories per day, plus regular feature and in-depth stories
• Good track record of reporting on the financial industry
• Ability to read, understand and break news from court filings and financial documents
• Good communication skills
• Knowledge of AP Style
• Bachelor's degree required

Added plus: Understanding of financial markets and investing, HTML, WordPress, FinalCut Pro, podcast, and copyediting experience

• Editing video - including day-of-air packages - and graphic elements for a live show on a tight deadline

• Pitch the most relevant, timely and compelling ideas for day-of and future segments.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
• You’ve been working in broadcast, streaming or cable news for 2+ years – preferably working on live daily shows or in and around a control room.
• You’re comfortable editing digital video and you want to get even better at it.
• You want a career in journalism and stay up on the news across multiple subject areas.
• You’ve got big ideas and want to develop your journalistic writing and research skills to bring them to life.
• You have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
