• The hours are generally 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. (Pacific time) Tuesday through Saturday, though the hours may shift occasionally depending on coverage needs. The full-time freelance status lasts for 30 weeks. To stay on beyond 30 weeks, this will become a part-time position, with under 30 hours a week.

Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum 3 years’ experience editing text stories, preferably for a digital news outlet.
• Ability to write and edit on deadline with speed and accuracy.
• Proven experience handling breaking news.
• Experience with web publishing and AP style.
• Ability to balance priorities, multiple projects and tasks.
• Brings energy and positivity to the group dynamic.

Required Education:
• BA or BS from a 4-year accredited college or university or equivalent experience

Preferred Education:
• Master’s degree in journalism from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience

The pay rate for this role in Los Angeles is $33.22 to $51.17 per hour.

The hiring range for this position in New York is $ 258,100 to $ 354,860 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
