Position Focus

The individual will work under the supervision of the Healthcare-Associated Infections – Community Interface (HAIC) project manager in the Yale Emerging Infections Program (EIP) and will aid in the implementation and data collection for the 2023 Healthcare-Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Use Prevalence Survey. The individual will also provide support... for other HAIC projects as needed (candidemia and C. difficile surveillance).

Primary responsibilities: work with participating hospitals to receive electronic line lists of a random sample of eligible acute care inpatients on the morning of each hospital’s survey date; enter survey data into a project database developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); review medical records both in office and at hospitals throughout CT to complete the prevalence survey data forms; ensure integrity of data in the database through routine data checks and cleaning procedures; assist in data analyses, report generation, and data close-out; participate in conference calls and face-to-face meetings with CDC, CT DPH, and other EIP site staff for training and to discuss survey procedures, including protocol and survey form implementation and standardization of data collection and data entry—this may require travel to Hartford, Atlanta, GA, and possibly other states.

Secondary responsibilities: access reports entered electronically into CT Electronic Disease Surveillance System (CTEDSS); contact providers to gather required clinical and epidemiological information via FAX, telephone, and secure email; assist with other activities as necessary to maintain the daily functions of the EIP HAIC Program (candidemia and C. difficile surveillance); assist with other special EIP projects as needed—such activities may include emergency public health response to disease outbreaks (case or control follow-up, chart review, telephone interview, etc.) or special investigations as indicated by the Connecticut Department of Public Health.

Essential Duties
• Researches and collects data through site or home visit intakes; library research; structured interviews; or through other means for designated research assignments. 2. Records and compiles information related to research data. Codes data accordingly to research specifications. Uses a computer terminal to input and retrieve data and to generate reports. 3. Processes and summarizes data using scientific or statistical techniques. Assists in data interpretation and analyses. Reports on status of research activities. 4. Recruits study participants and ensures that subject recruitment and follow-up are completed per protocol procedures. 5. Orders and maintains inventory of supplies. May assist in designing, developing, and modifying research experiments, procedures, or survey instruments. May assist research and support staff. 6. Performs additional functions incidental to research activities.

Required Education And Experience

Six years of related work experience, four of them in the same job family at the next lower level, and high school level education; or four years of related work experience and an Associate's degree; or little or no work experience and a Bachelor's degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

Position Focus

Reporting to the Manager/Supervisor of a Husbandry Unit, provide operational assistance to the Manager, Supervisor, and Animal Technician E within a husbandry Unit. Maintain, sanitize and decontaminate animal caging, equipment, rooms and facilities within germ-free, hazardous and conventional areas to established standards. Coordinate, participate and train in a variety of routine and complex technical procedures and activities related to the care of gnotobiotic animals used in research. Perform sample collection for verification of germ-free status; keep detailed records of samples and isolator usage. Using specialized knowledge of gnotobiotic husbandry, discuss research projects with investigators to plan procedures and the introduction of animals and supplies into and out of isolators. This requires a high level of coordination, planning and prioritization. Provide assistance to Rodent Preventative Medicine by reporting changes in room populations (i.e. number of racks) for placement of sentinels/targeted sentinels for the rodent QA program. Coordinate with the Unit Manager/Supervisor, Rodent Services and Unit scheduler to implement room moves, targeted sentinels and handling of equipment. Participate in startup meetings for in vivo use of hazardous agents. Serve as the principal source of information for the meeting attendees (YARC and investigator) regarding availability and location of YARC supplies and equipment required for the research project. Confirm that appropriate signage is posted in assigned areas. Communicate with the Unit Manager/Supervisor regarding any issues. Maintain inventory of food, bedding and supplies; establish, maintain and forecast a list of quantities to have available in designated areas, order supplies (internally and externally), as needed. Position Focus:

Reporting jointly to the Assistant Director of Student Programs and Associate Director of Exhibitions, the Shops Manager's primary responsibilities are instructing and guiding students in the use of the Yale Peabody Museum Construction Shop, coordinating appropriately with the Exhibitions Department staff, coordinating student use of Mount-Making and Exhibition Preparation Shop resources, and ensuring that safety procedures and supplies are in place, up-to-date and being followed in all Peabody Museum Shops. The Shops Manager teaches skills, techniques, design principles, and project management strategies relevant to a wide variety of museum fabrication work and advises students on academic projects as needed. They coordinate and supervise occasional staff use of Peabody Shops (outside of specific staff who are qualified to use Shops resources independently, such as Exhibitions Department fabrication staff).

The Shops Manager will support, supervise, and manage the workflow of students working on exhibition development in YPM galleries, external spaces, the Student Exhibition Gallery, and other student-programmed spaces. Students will also make use of Shop resources for course-based fabrication work, independent academic projects, student job tasks, and more.

Staff and students will work at all scales, from small-scale models and prototypes to full-scale exhibition components. They will participate in many different initiatives, including creation of exhibition installations and graphics, design and construction of specialist mounts and supports for objects, design and build of media installations, preparation of specimens and objects for exhibition, fabrication of components for mechanical engineering projects, elements for art installations, and more. Staff and students work in a wide variety of materials including wood and wood products, plastics and resins, glass, ferrous and nonferrous metals, and biological materials. In addition to instruction, project management, and workflow management, the Shops Manager, in coordination with the Exhibitions Department's Museum Technician, is responsible for managing budgets, maintaining and updating equipment, and ordering and inventorying supplies.

Safety is of paramount importance in the Peabody Shops. The Shops Manager develops, implements, and updates safety policies and procedures appropriate for the practices and equipment in all Peabody Shops, and keeps apprised of the latest safety regulations and best practices, both within Yale and more broadly. They ensure that all users of the Peabody Shops are properly informed of safety procedures and trained to adhere to safety practices, and they coordinate and oversee student and occasional staff use of all Shops in such a way as to ensure that safety precautions are closely followed.
