Associate Editor, XXL
XXL, Townsquare Media’s hip-hop site, is looking for a new Associate Editor for both the website and the magazine. In this role, the Associate Editor will be writing and editing content, while utilizing their strong relationships in the music industry for content. This role is WFH with possible days in office and attendance of industry and work-related meetings. Responsibilities
• Writing news and features for the site and magazine
• Coming up with stories and ideas
• Using contacts and relationships to get interviews
• Attending events and concerts
• Contributing to social
• Collaborating with staff on ideas
• Some factchecking
Qualifications Required
• 2-3 years of experience writing and editing for established music sites and publications – MANDATORY
• Strong writing, re-writing and editing skills
• Heavy experience covering hip-hop music
• Extensive hip-hop knowledge
• Ability to multi-task and have effective communication skills
• Must be creative and able to come up with story ideas
• Strong organization skills, time management and a team player
• Good research skills and a good ear for new talent
