Wikidata.org is a free, collaborative, multilingual knowledge base maintained by the Wikimedia Foundation. It serves as a central hub for structured data across the Wikimedia projects, providing a common source for data and metadata that can be used in Wikipedia, Wikivoyage, and other Wikimedia projects. Wikidata allows contributors to add and edit data, such as facts, figures, and descriptions, that can then be used by tools and applications interested in harvesting or querying the data. Its aim is to make knowledge more accessible and linked, helping to create a more interconnected and informed world.
Applications range from user-facing tools such as Apple’s Siri or EuroWings’ in-flight app to research activities, e.g., in the life sciences [ 4] and in social science [ 20 ]. Fig. 1. We will take a look behind the szenes of the project and get to know the community that stands behind this project.wikidataworkshop.github.ioWikidata's data is powering a lot of the technology we use every day, from digital personal assistants to investigative journalism to library systems and more.
Wikidata's goal is to allow data to be used both in Wikipedia and in external applications.researchgate.netWikidata allows every user to extend and edit the stored information, even without creating an account. A form based interface makes editing easy.
