In addition to advocating on behalf of our users to ensure their success when using WebPageTest, you will also be spending time planning and building features for the core WebPageTest testing agent and experience at webpagetest.org. We strongly feel that being able to provide the best possible experience for our customers requires that we actively work with and on the tools we're building. About the opportunity This role is a near-even split of traditional engineering and developer advocacy. Here are some of the challenges you'd be working on:
Creating and presenting materials, open-source examples, and tooling to help developers create-- and improve--performant sites and applications using WebPageTest. Keeping a very close eye on the developer experience around WebPageTest, improving experiences where necessary. Includes supporting WebPageTest Forums, Slack, Twitter. Contribute to feature development and bug fixing around the core WebPageTest engine--both the testing agents and the core experience at webpagetest.org Contribute and develop integrations, plugins, recipes as well as extensions for further adoption and usage of API integrations and core WebPageTest. Supporting others internally with their work through code review, feedback on posts and presentations and strategic guidance. Work with Product and Engineering to provide feedback from the community for features or additional products that will help them deliver better experiences. Work closely with Product to help steer, and execute, on key features and changes for WebPageTest commercial offerings. Work closely with Product, Marketing and Go-To-Market team as the voice of the developer and an enabler. Contributing to developer-focused outreach efforts and scaled programs that help drive more users, usage and best practices. Represent WebPageTest and Catchpoint as well as participate/lead developer and web performance focused events, live audits (Twitch, YouTube), hackathons, meetups. Requirements A good understanding of WebPageTest, open source projects, and web performance in general and why it matters. Clear passion to further web performance standards using WebPageTest and engaging the developer community 3
years in software engineering and technical development roles Excellent technical writing skills paired with presentation and speaking skills, with a passion to build and share with other developers and community members Motivated to continuously learn and explore new performance metrics and solve developer challenges Experienced and comfortable in contributing to open source and communicating accordingly.
