We are looking for a candidate with experience building... semantic data architecture to join our CCB Vocabulary team to assist in taxonomy and ontology efforts for a new team within JPMC. You will have the opportunity create a large scale Vocabulary, which will be applied to data at hyper scale, making them both human and machine readable for our data consumers and our data scientists.

Job responsibilities
• Coach and support CCB's data owners in cross-disciplinary teams; Help discover, profile, acquire, process, model and own data for the solutions
• Advocate the adoption of open-sourced data processing pipelines & algorithms to help clients manage and anticipate data needs from varied structured and unstructured data sources, including traditional relational stores, other NoSQL databases, and social media, news, internal/external documents, emails, etc.
• Actively be involved in researching and experimenting with leading/emerging data governance and processing methodologies and technologies to facilitate advanced analytics use cases.
• Develop metrics and procedures for assessing, managing and characterizing meta-data. Contribute to data architecture and data management strategy design
• Participate in collaborating with the firm's Chief Data Offices and Technology Functions to develop standards and best practice and influence key stakeholders to define tasks and guidelines for workflows and manage decisions throughout the lifecycle.
• Builds product backlog, prioritize its items to achieve Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and continuously keep it up to date. Ensures product features and processes align with applicable Discover compliance and risk management standards.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
• Taxonomy, Ontology, Vocabulary experience
• Well-versed in Linked Data, Metadata, SPARQL, OWL, Knowledge Representation, Web Standards, W3C, Digital Libraries, Resource Description Framework (RDF), Semantic Technologies, Ontologies & taxonomies
• Experience using Python and query languages such as SQL and SPARQL
• Education in and/or experience with language pragmatics, linguistic data collection methodologies, and/or natural language understanding
• Team development and coaching experience a plus
• Bachelor's degree in information science, computer science, library science, computational linguistics, mathematics, philosophy or related discipline

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
• Ability to move quickly and embrace an experiment-driven product development approach. Understanding and prior experience in Ontology and Taxonomy mapping. Conduct user research to identify pain points and inform design
• Previous experience utilizing SQL, SPARQL, OWL and RDF highly sought
• Outcome oriented - not reactionary; you can articulate the desired outcome and work collaboratively to create a path to achieve it. This requires a fundamental understanding of the business and its constraints (financial, marketing, compliance, legal, service, the customer environment, the technical capabilities, the user experience, etc.)
• Fluency in highly technical concepts and practices, garnering respect from engineers. Manage dependencies with other team's functions while identifying, building, and managing strategic partnership across different product teams.

The Global Clinical Data Standards Vocabulary Specialist, Associate Director, is a subject matter expert in CDISC Controlled Terminology and applying terminology and associated reference data to data collection and transformation specifications in compliance with Health Authority regulations and guidance and company best practices.

The Vocabulary Specialist is able to:
• Work independently, collaboratively as a member of a team, or successfully as a leader, with equal effectiveness.
• Interact with staff across multiple of our company's sites.
• Mentor, guide, and provide direction to junior staff, as assigned.

The Vocabulary Specialist may lead or participate in:
• Internal clinical data standards forums
• Standards development teams and data governance reviews
• Strategic and process improvement/design projects
• Industry forums and standards development teams

The Vocabulary Specialist maintains knowledge of new technologies, clinical study data standards, regulatory requirements emerging in industry, and our company's guidelines and SOPs.

Required Experience
• 8+ years’ work experience in pre-clinical/clinical research to include minimum 2 years’ experience in data standards, with a strong emphasis on managing and applying CDISC Controlled Terminology.

Preferred Experience
• CDISC Standards and the application of SDTM and its associated controlled terminology.
• Knowledge of clinical research-controlled terminology (i.e., MedDRA, WHODD, SNOMED).
• Understanding of a variety of external data types (i.e., genetics, immunogenicity, PK/PD).
• Understanding of collection and terminology associated with questionnaires.
• Understanding of lab values and the importance and maintenance of unit of measure conversions.
• Knowledge of versioning and maintenance of controlled terminology.
• Excellent communication/presentation skills.
• Must have an innovative spirit, outstanding stakeholder management skills, influence and demonstrated proficiency in the management of multiple projects.

Education
• B.A. or B.S. degree, preferably in life sciences (i.e., Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Scientist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Nursing), or related discipline.
