SUMMARY AND SCOPE OF POSITION
Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor, the Director will be responsible for assisting a wide variety of workforce development programs at the 23 community colleges, oversight of grant seeking and implementation activities, communications, and projects with partner agencies to respond to the workforce needs of business and industry in the Commonwealth and leading special projects and initiatives through collaborative efforts among state agencies, workforce boards, community colleges, and other workforce partners that contribute to the workforce goals of the VCCS and the Commonwealth. This position will also consult with the Associate and Senior Vice Chancellors, as needed, on the internal and external organizational structures and outcomes and advise about efficiencies and improved outcomes that may be achieved.

Leading a team of workforce and grant professionals, the director will support grant seeking and implementation, program development, and partnerships across Virginia’s workforce development system that will advance opportunities and outcomes for Virginia workers and businesses. This position will act as a liaison at the state and regional levels on a variety of workforce initiatives, with particular emphasis placed on supporting the strategic goals and objectives of the workforce development system. The individual selected will represent VCCS to colleges, businesses, VCCS boards and councils, partner agencies, the Virginia Board for Community Colleges, and other stakeholders as called upon by the Associate Vice Chancellor and Senior Vice Chancellor.

• A combination of relevant experience and education typically obtained through completion of a Master’s degree that provides the required level of knowledge, skills, and ability to successfully perform the functions of the job.

• 5 years of experience in workforce development in Virginia at the state or local level.

The Coordinator for Community College Workforce Cooperative Programs provides critical CCWC administrative support for current and expanding regional skilled trades training programs delivered cooperatively by regional community colleges. Responsibilities include grant administration, budget monitoring, invoicing, program performance tracking, program process evaluation and support, and regional marketing and recruiting efforts for CCWC priority industries including shipbuilding and ship repair, offshore wind, and tunnel and road construction. This position will also support and contribute to positive working relationships with other regional agencies and employer partners.

This is a full-time restricted classified position. Continuation of employment is based on funding availability.

Minimum Qualifications:
