Department and College of Nursing and Health Innovation Information
Public Health is a rapidly growing undergraduate and graduate program focused on the Department of Kinesiology. The department also offers multiple other undergraduate and graduate programs including integrative and applied physiology, movement and rehabilitation science, physical education, and athletic training to approximately 1,700 students (combined undergraduate and masters and doctoral level graduate students). Faculty in the Department of Kinesiology are funded by a wide range of agencies, including the National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Science Foundation, the American Heart Association, and many others. The University of Texas at Arlington and the Department of Kinesiology offers all faculty members access to state-of the art research facilities. In addition, the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex is a hot-bed for biomedical and health-related research; the Department of Kinesiology and College of Nursing and Health Innovation have existing collaborations with regional, national, and internationally recognized institutions. Required Qualifications: All candidates must have a Doctoral degree in Public Health or a related field and must demonstrate a research program with current external funding or a strong potential to obtain external funding. Candidates should have a broad understanding and interest in multidisciplinary studies of how social determinants of health affect the health of urban populations. Relevant research backgrounds may include evaluation, health disparities, social determinants of health, and social and economic development, among others.
Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be able to significantly contribute to the overarching theme of programming and research in health and disease across the lifespan with a Public Health focus. While all areas of Public Health research will be considered, preference will be given to those with an academic interest and research background in disciplines encompassed within Epidemiology and Urban Health.

With more than 9,400 students, the College is among the largest in Texas and offers the most comprehensive engineering degree programs in the region. The College is enjoying growth in student enrollment and student graduation, which has been concomitant with growth in research expenditures, collaboration, innovation and entrepreneurship by faculty and students.
The Civil Engineering Department (https://www.uta.edu/ce) has strong educational and research programs, with 27 tenured/tenure track faculty members, one member of the National Academy of Engineering, 2 members of the National Academy of Inventors and 4 ASCE Fellows. In fall 2022 enrollment included 1,118 undergraduate students and 779 graduate students. Annual research expenditures exceed $11.8 million, with world-class research in construction engineering and management, environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, solid waste management, infrastructure system engineering and management, structural engineering and mechanics, transportation engineering and water resource engineering.

Required Qualifications: Applicants must have earned a PhD degree in civil engineering or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications: Applicants should possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills and have a strong record of scholarship and research, teaching and service.
