News is seeking a full-time Associate Reporter for coverage on New York current events.
You will be expected to report and write compelling news and feature stories, using data to spot trends and inform narratives.

Primary day-to-day responsibilities will include a mix of researching, writing and editing about various topics such as politics and policy, health, education and the economy.
The ability to handle multiple short-term and longer-term assignments, while meeting tight deadlines, is key.
In addition, this role will collaborate with others across the organization to support production, audience development and other efforts.
You should be comfortable manipulating and analyzing complex data and describing the results in a way that is understandable to a general audience.

This full-time position requires news reporting and writing experience; the ability to identify, sort and manipulate in-house and third-party data sets; a knack for spotting and telling human interest stories; and a rigorous commitment to accuracy.

The position is based out of our New York, New York office.
Candidates must be NY- Based and open to working hybrid from our New York office.

You Should Definitely Have:
• At least one month to twelve months of professional news reporting and writing experience, preferably in an online news environment.
• Interest in news, specifically politics, national security, education, community health and economics.
• Strong research, editing, writing and analytical skills
• Experience assembling and distilling data from multiple sources.
• Familiarity with Excel and database tools.
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.
• Familiarity with SEO and content management systems, web production and social media are a major plus.
• Experience with data visualization tools and software.
• College degree or equivalent.

This position requires comfort working with front-end development and web standards as well as backend technologies.
