This is a part-time position that will require evening and weekend shifts. You should expect to work 15 hours a week with occasional weeks requiring more hours, especially during competition season or on team trips. Additionalhours may be added if you'd like to join the setting department or supervisorteam.

Roles and Responsibilities
• Quality Coaching - Provide excellent coaching to our youth team members while maintaining a safe, positive and productive learning atmosphere. Identify individual areas for growth in our team members and to help create individualized training plans to help them meet their climbing goals. Establish a positive team environment and act as a positive role model for our youth. Explain and demonstrate advanced technique with excellence.
• First Class Customer Service - Build relationships with our youth team members, their parents, and the general gym community. Aim to positively promote the gym and our services to help connect our guests to the services that best meet their needs.
• Cultivate Quality Programming - Develop and implement a high quality program focused on the individual team members goals as well as the health of the team overall. Use your past experiences and individualized creativity to help create a program that helps our youth team to best grow and meet their goals.
• Constant Collaboration - Work as a team alongside the other coaches and program staff. Take and implement direction from the Director of Programs as well as the other regional Head Coaches. Work with our other program staff to ensure our high standards are consistent between locations.
• Administrative Excellence - Use multiple administrative tools to help log both team wide and individual training plans, coordinate program schedules, and maintain contact with our other coaches and teams.

JOB SUMMARY

The Competitive Climbing Team Coach is responsible for coaching MAC athletes at the local, regional, divisional, and national level. We are looking for a community minded person who aligns with our value of creating lifelong climbers. Candidates eagerly and enthusiastically coach athletes by supervising and executing practice plans, as well as the creation of a positive and healthy environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Oversee and teach rock climbing skills under the leadership of the Climbing Team Head Coach. Provide input to Head Coach in developing long range training systems including goals, timelines, and method of evaluation for recreation program.
• Coaches, develops, encourages, and inspires climbers toward climbing skill development and progression.
• Aid Head Coach at local and regional events for competitive and recreational teams.
• Communicates with climbers, parents, and staff.
• Follow training schedules established by Head Climbing Coach.
• Travel to competitions with the team to coach as assigned by the Head Climbing Coach.
• Assist Head Climbing Coach in identifying ongoing needs of the climbing program. Submit written reports upon request of Head Climbing Coach. Assist Head Coach in promoting a positive and professional Rock-Climbing experience to MAC member's athletes, staff, and the local climbing community.
• Communicate member concerns to Outdoor Manager or Head Coach.
• Answer questions regarding outdoor program as necessary.
• Attend all scheduled climbing staff meetings, clinics, workshops etc.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Recognizes and/or anticipates potentially dangerous situations and any unsafe behavior and take appropriate action to prevent accident or injury. Action may include approaching members and communicating guidelines, demonstrating safe techniques, increased education, and awareness of safety rules, correcting unsafe activity.
• Promotes the MAC code of conduct in club activities and demonstrates the importance of providing quality service to members.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
Performs other tasks as assigned by Outdoor Manager or Head Climbing Coach.

ESSENTIAL TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, VEHICLES, AND/OR MACHINERY
Job requires proficiency with all appropriate tools, ropes, hardware, and medical equipment as needed. This includes, but is not limited to, ropes, carabiners, harnesses, wrenches, ladders, belay devices (ABD and Manual), climbing shoes, and webbing. Requires the use of a multi-line telephone, Windows operating system and software applications including Word and Excel, photocopier, and safe operation of all climbing gym equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
Candidate must work comfortably and safely at varying heights. Some heavy lifting of rock wall equipment is necessary. Work may be occasionally performed in awkward positions when setting up and taking down rock wall equipment and performing cleaning and/or minor repairs. Job entails frequent walking, stooping, bending, squatting, and lifting up to 50lbs. Must have the ability to move easily on soft or irregular surfaces and stand on feet for continuous hours at a time. Work is performed in a gymnasium with exposure to some noise on a routine basis. Exposure to incidents requiring the administration of minor first aid may occur.

Qualifications:Required
• Proficient in top rope and lead belaying with an Assisted Braking Device (ABD) or ability to learn upon hire.
• A minimum of 1 year working with kidsin the climbing industry.
• A minimum of 1 year in customer service or industry equivalent.
• Must pass a background check.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certification or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• SafeSport certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• USA Climbing Level 2 coach, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively.
• Able to balance multiple tasks and make assertive and compassionate choices.
• Clear and effective communicator that excels in a collaborative working environment.
• Demonstrated professional and courteous communication skills with parents and children with an emphasis on customer service.

Qualifications:Preferred
• 2 or more years of experience coaching.
• 4 or more years of personal climbing experience.
• Experience in coaching all competitive climbing disciplines.
• Experience with route setting with relevant USAC certifications.
• Knowledge of basic computer skills and office procedures.

Additional information
• This position is a part-time, non-exempt position, with the potential to build a full-time role in combination with other gym duties. Part-time benefits include a complimentary gym membership, gear discounts, guest passes, and other benefits available to Movement employees.
• This pay range for this position is $17-$20/hr.
• This position may be for any level of team and will be decided based on staffing needs and the applicant's availability, skills, experience, and interest. Proposed team level and estimated hours per week will be included in an offer letter.
• Team Coach Supervisors are required to attend the practices agreed upon at the time of hire as well as monthly Team Coach Supervisor meetings and quarterly all coach meetings.
• Additionally, expect 3-6 hours of admin each week.
• We are currently hiring for our Advanced Team level.
• We are looking to fill the position as soon as possible.
• Advanced Team Practice times are from 4:30-7p Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
• We are specifically hiring for the Tues/Thurs & Weds/Friday teams.
• Our Advanced team meets twice a week and is a team for driven, focused, and mature athletes who demonstrate dedication to their team and mastery of basic climbing skills. This team introduces advanced movement skills, more extensive physical training, and preparation for performance situations. Participation in USA Climbing competitions strongly encouraged.
