Job Responsibilities:

Admissions Management (40%)
• Oversee the admissions process for MSW, YDL, YOST, and PhD graduate and undergraduate programs. Determine admission criteria for each program and develop an innovative recruitment plan. Develop admissions-related communications and marketing content to ensure effective communication with people from a variety of backgrounds, identities, and abilities. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement related to the admissions and recruitment process. Lead and execute appropriate changes. Chair the MSW Admissions Committee and Scholarship Committees. Assemble committee members and partner to determine recipients of departmental financial aid and admission decisions. Train application reviewers to successfully identify if prerequisites on applicant materials meet program requirements in order to ensure admissions decisions are based on the School’s selection criteria. Serve as point of escalation for questions on applications and admission decisions. Review transcripts of applicants applying for advanced standing in the MSW program and determine applicants who will be required to complete additional coursework. Enlist department staff to assist with various MSW, YDL and PhD program events, including new student orientation. Assign tasks, train, and oversee staff as required.

Recruitment (40%)
• Design a strategic recruitment plan to attract a diverse cohort in alignment with each program’s mission. Research student behavioral trends and use data to influence the recruiting plan accordingly. In consultation with school leadership, develop messaging for prospective students regarding student experiences, admissions requirements, program options, curriculum options and program expectations for graduation, and other pertinent information related to admissions and program completion Build brand awareness and the reputation of the School of Social Work and its education programs to prospective students and the wider community. Visit colleges, human service agencies, and other appropriate organizations and build effective relationships within these organizations. Oversee program nominations for professional diversity scholarships. Review applications to determine the award recipient. Communicate award approval and coordinating the award process. Attend graduate school fairs and human services conferences for recruitment purposes, organize recruitment events, and coordinate a faculty and staff presence at these events.

Data Management (20%)
• Work with the graduate school to build queries that meet the program’s needs for information during the admissions process. Coordinate with Graduate Admissions Office and other University units, as needed and as appropriate, in the management of vital admissions and prospective data systems.

Required Qualifications:
• BA/BS degree plus at least five years of relevant professional experience, or master's degree plus at least three years of relevant professional experience Demonstrated skills to work collaboratively with people at varying levels of an organization Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of communities, backgrounds, and identities, including those from historically marginalized communities.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Degree or course work in Human Services, Social Sciences or a related area. Experience working with students in a higher-education setting Previous work in admissions for an online graduate program or a professional-oriented degree program. Communication and marketing skills, using a wide array of communication tools to effectively reach diverse audiences. Demonstrated ability to independently organize, problem-solve, and follow through on multiple projects. Familiarity with information management, including building queries and reports from databases. Strong attention to detail and good time-management skills.

Anticipated salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000. Salary offers are dependent on the candidate's experience, skills, and internal equity within the department.

Job Responsibilities:

Academic, Center and/or Administrative Unit Accountant (40%)
• Consult with business managers and unit administrators in the development of external/internal sales business plans, billing rates, and contracts. Provide assistance on budget development for programs, projects and initiatives. This includes activities related to course fees and fees in lieu of tuition.
• Lead assigned unit/s annual budget and fiscal year close processes. Facilitate conversations and provide guidance to unit leadership regarding financial position and potential funding needs. Assist in the monitoring and completion of the unit’s merit process. Develop and enter the budget into EFS by the required deadlines. Complete required reporting and closing procedures
• Lead the development and maintenance of a chart of accounts that align with operational needs, optimizes reporting, while minimizing impact on efficiency. Chart of accounts should be consistent with University policy and should align with collegiate strategies.
• Manage financial transactions for a diverse portfolio of sponsored and non-sponsored accounts including foundation gifts, scholarships and endowments, internal and external sales, O&M state allocations, state special allocations, indirect cost recovery, and various sponsored accounts, grants and project funding sources. Management to include verification and use of appropriate accounting, completion of reconciliations, review and approval/denial of transactions, and initiation and entry of corrections. Management also includes assessing, analyzing, interpreting, translating and recommending courses of action based upon professional judgment and knowledge of University policies and procedures and other regulating agency requirements
• Ensure accuracy of entered personnel and payroll transactions in payroll accounting and on abstracts, including consistency with appointment documentation and appropriateness of funding source.

Sponsored Project Accountant (30%)
• Develop budgets and/or projections for sponsored projects grant proposal awards, renewals and no-cost extensions, working closely with the grant coordinator and Principle Investigators (PIs)/researchers to ensure effective pre and post-award management of sponsored projects.
• Provide fiscal management and monitoring of sponsored project activity and balances in compliance with University and regulatory agency policies and procedures. Develop and maintain knowledge of pertinent federal, state, business, and non-profit sponsors to provide guidance and interpretation of governing legislation, rules and conditions.
• Consult with and develop partnerships with Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA), Sponsored Financial Reporting (SFR), and external sponsors to manage sub-awards, reconcile/resolve concerns, and close out awards.
• Coordinate and facilitate regularly scheduled meetings with PIs, and department administrators to monitor financial activity and to address concerns.
• Coordinate effort certification, including managing and monitoring effort certification process, investigating budgetary issues, preparing payroll distribution changes, processing necessary correcting entries, and meeting required deadlines.
• Perform Certified Approver (CA) duties for assigned units (if/when appointed as a collegiate CA.

Reporting and Analysis (15%)
• Prepare complex, comprehensive, customized, routine, and ad hoc reporting from a variety of sources for University, college, and department leadership, and PIs, as needed. Consult with stakeholders to interpret data and to make recommendations and observations.
• Perform budget-to-actual analysis of assigned sponsored and non-sponsored accounts. -Analyze financial data for anomalies, identify gaps in revenue and/or expenses, investigate and recommend solutions.
• Develop and present projections and trending to inform, consult, and advise stakeholders.

Senior Accountant (15%)
• Provide oversight, process/procedure compliance of multiple/various college-wide business processes as a subject matter expert; partner with FSO management to ensure coordination and dissemination of new and changing policy and procedure (i.e., EFS-related processes, scholarships, internal/external sales, effort certification, payroll accounting, sponsored projects/grants/projects, cluster director, chrome river navigator, certified approver, reporting, course fees, budget preparation and entry, and data analytics).
• Conduct training for: accounting/finance professionals, department administrators, and unit staff within the college
• Serve as a first-point-of-contact resource for process-related policies and procedures interpretation.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives that have an overall impact on the college or individual units; represent the college on University-wide committees, task-forces, and work collaboratively with internal and external units to improve and leverage shared knowledge and best practices, through establishing, building, and maintaining effective professional working relationships.
• Maintain detailed knowledge of Service Level Agreements and related Memorandums of -Agreement to ensure optimal service levels and accuracy of services provided by the FSO; provide training.
• Ensure prompt responses to inquiries from various college personnel and appropriate interpretations of university and college policy and procedure.
• Act as a mentor to other finance professionals within the unit as well as serve as an assigned mentor to at least 1-2 other FPs; Participate in search committees as needed; Provide input into annual reviews, but no formal supervisory responsibilities
• Lead periodic FSO finance meetings. This includes guiding finance professionals through the meeting agenda, documenting substantial information, and sharing unanswered questions with the finance supervisors.

Required Qualifications:
• BA/BS plus at least five years of professional work experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal nine years.
• Demonstrated experience in accounting/fund accounting, budget development, and/or other financial management.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate well with people from a variety of backgrounds, communities, and identities.

Preferred Qualifications:
• BA/BS with major(s) related to: accounting, business or public administration, finance, economics, or other related field.
• Documented experience working within a higher education research environment; familiarity with University of Minnesota enterprise systems, policies, and procedures.
• Experience managing and prioritizing multiple tasks and work both independently and as part of a team.
• Experience delivering high level customer service, including proactive communication and ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues
• Advanced computer skills including spreadsheet development and maintenance.
• Fiscal experience in fund forecasting/projecting and monitoring, auditing, grants management, and reporting (utilizing multiple data sources).
• Experience with the financial management, oversight, and monitoring complex budgets and contracts.
• Certified approver or expectation to pass exam within 12 months of employment.
