CONTEXT OF THE JOB:

The Office of the University Registrar, as part of the
Enrollment Management Team, manages information systems, maintains
students’ academic records, and provides educational support
services for the University community.

Under the limited supervision of the Associate Registrar the
Assistant Registrar collaborates with assistant deans and academic
departmental staff to support student record and curriculum
management.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Supports the Committee on Undergraduate Records and
Certification (CURC) committee by creating committee schedules and

• Collaborates with the Academic Records Assistant II to update
student records and communicate petition decisions.
• Evaluates and manages the grading cycles and processes;

grade changes and incomplete grade processes. Processes Grading
forms including Grade Forgiveness and Incomplete Grade
Extensions.
• Responds to complex registration and grading-related inquiries
and communicates/clarifies policies and procedures.
• Develops and delivers point-of-use training to faculty and
academic unit staff.
• Monitors and maintains Waitlists including setting up,
troubleshooting, and communicating to students.
• Codes, places, and troubleshoots Course Requisites.
• Plans, places, communicates and troubleshoots Student
Enrollment Appointments.
• Runs Post Enrollment Requirement Checking (PERC) and
communicates to students that have failed to meet requisites.
• Provides support for in-person services in the University
Visitors Center.
• Serves as a backup for registration and graduation processes,
forms and services. Supports new student registration and New
Student Orientation duties as identified by the Associate
Registrar.
• Assists with Change of Major/Minor/Graduation Term form
processing.
• Supports database testing for grading and registration
functions.
• Supports the assessment of business practices and helps explore

• Maintains documentation of registration and grading-related

Job description: The University of Delaware (UD)
Department of Plant and Soil Sciences seeks outstanding candidates
for a 9-month tenure track Assistant Professor of Molecular Plant
Breeding and Genetics. Candidates with research experience or
expertise in quantitative genetics and/or genomics are especially
encouraged to apply. The university recognizes the importance of
plant breeding to address new challenges especially in the areas of
food security and sustainability. Research areas of interest
include but are not limited to molecular plant breeding, crop
improvement, quantitative genetics, genomics and genome editing,
towards fundamental and/or applied research goals. This position
will continue to strengthen and expand upon the department’s
expertise spanning from basic molecular and cellular biology to
applied plant science and biotechnology, plant-microbe
interactions, crop science and agriculture.

Successful candidates will develop an interdisciplinary research
program that combines plant breeding with molecular, genome-scale,
and quantitative genetics in a highly collaborative, diverse
department. We seek individuals that will incorporate diversity,
equity, and inclusion into their research, teaching, and mentoring
both at the graduate and undergraduate levels. The successful
candidate will be expected to develop an internationally
recognized, extramurally funded, collaborative research program
(70%), teach courses in service of our undergraduate and/or
graduate programs (30%), and engage in efforts to advance
department, college and University initiatives. Candidates must
have a Ph.D. degree in plant breeding or a related field, and
post-doctoral experience is preferred.

This position will be situated at Worrilow Hall, a newly
renovated building on UD’s south campus that contains
state-of-the-art research and teaching labs, and shared,
collaborative spaces (https://www.udel.edu/academics/colleges/canr/about/facilities-labs/worrilow/).
The successful candidate will have access to an adjacent complex of
greenhouses, growth chambers, seed storage facilities and the
Delaware Agriculture Experiment Station’s 344-acre farm. An
additional 347-acre farm is located on UD’s Georgetown campus. Our
department’s faculty are also supported by the new Ammon Pinizzotto
Biopharmaceutical Innovation Center at the University of Delaware’s
Science, Technology and Advanced Research Campus (https://www.udel.edu/research-innovation/star/),
which is an interdisciplinary center with faculty from plant
science, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, material
science, geological sciences, and kinesiology and applied
physiology. This institute houses the state-of-the-art Bioimaging

General information: The Department of Plant and Soil
Sciences resides within UD’s College of Agriculture and Natural

Position Description: The successful candidate will be
expected to develop an extramurally funded, internationally
recognized research program that pairs plant and soil science or
agronomy with ecology and/or climate science. The incumbent would
contribute to the generation and transfer of knowledge through
systems-based research and departmental teaching. Examples of
research focus include, but are not limited to: 1) improving the
sustainability of agroecological or cropping systems through
climate change mitigation/adaptation or enhancement of soil
health/soil carbon sequestration; 2) forecasting changes in
agroecological and cropping system dynamics under various
management or climate scenarios; or 3) investigating interactions
between agriculture and ecosystems across scales. Experience with
large spatio-temporal datasets and cross-disciplinary research is

coordinates the activities of (8) eight unionized Utility
Operators, (1) one Instrument Controls Mechanic (5) five Boiler
Mechanics (2) Welders (4) Heavy Refrigeration Mechanics and (4) BAS
Mechanics, as appropriate to the needs of the operation. This
position is considered essential personnel for university
emergencies situations and must report to/remain on campus as
required.

Responsibilities:
• Monitors and maintains optimum performance of central steam
generation plant and related systems, to include all digitally
controlled mechanical, electrical/ electronic, and advanced water
circulation systems.
• Identifies, analyzes, and implements cost effective resolution
for chronic non- routine maintenance problems in multiple
disciplines.
• Administers and controls budgets and contracts totaling between
$1 and 2 million dollars annually.
• Manage and oversee the 24/7 operation and maintenance of the
entire campus wide underground steam, condensate and heating hot
water piping system which consists of 16 linear miles of pipe. This
includes off hours emergency repairs of such systems to ensure and

Context of the job:

The University Student Centers (USC) cultivate a vibrant,
inclusive, community in which students learn and thrive at the
University of Delaware. As part of the Division of Student Life,
the Trabant University Center and the Perkins Student Center serve
as the social and educational epicenters for the campus, providing
vibrant and intentionally planned engagement opportunities that
support USCs' learning outcomes, but also those of the Division of
Student Life and the overall educational aims of UD, as articulated
by the General Education purposes and objectives. The USC team
affords every student a path to contribute to the campus community
and heighten their sense of belonging through on-campus employment
opportunities, nationally recognized leadership development
programs, over 400 Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) and
dynamic and engaging campus events and traditions. The unique
cross-functional nature of the department, which includes
facilities, events, student organizations, and leadership programs,
necessitates that each staff member pursues cross-unit
collaborations and partnerships, as well as assumes some
cross-functional duties and roles, such as opening/closing the
facility based on event coverage; rotating evening-duty, serving as
a professional advisor to RSOs, and providing programmatic support
for department and divisional events. Collectively and through
collaboration, USC team members play a critical role in actualizing
the Division of Student Life mission and vision.

Under the general direction of the Assistant Director for
Programming, the Program Coordinator provides programming
assistance and support to events and large-scale programs including
concerts, major festivals, films, trips, cultural events, lectures,
and traditional and historic events. Some of the University's
premiere high-profile events include Student Homecoming Week,
Parent and Family Weekend Featured Events, Senior Days events, USC
Celebrate Series, Trabant Now, Perkins Live, Welcome Weekend
Events, and UD on Stage.

Responsibilities:
• Assist the University Student Centers with planning, producing,
and assessing a variety of educational, social, and recreational
programs, events and services such as Opening Weekend, Parents and
Family Weekend, Senior Days events, USC Celebrates Series, Quizzo,
Perkins Live and Trabant Now, the USC Film Series, and other
student focused campus-wide events.
• Provide supervision of weekend and evening programs which may
include lectures, concerts, performing artists, comedy shows and
major campus-wide events.
• Coordinate and facilitate collaborations as appropriate with
student groups, Student Life departments, academic departments,
graduate students, and the greater community for the purpose of
co-sponsorships, assessment, and implementing programs which
strengthen campus engagement.
• Provide campus event programming advisement and assistance to
University of Delaware's programming board.
• Provide campus event programming advisement and assistance to
major Registered Student Organizations in developing educational
and social activities. Oversee program development and mentor
student leaders in developing policy awareness and organizational
skills.
• Assist with the performance and production aspects of the
annual Fall Student Involvement Fair featuring more than 500
student organizations and departments and attracting approximately
6,000 students.
• Assist with assessment and data collection initiatives
pertaining to student development and program and event management
utilizing Divisional assessment tools (Qualtrics) to ensure
learning outcomes are achieved.
• Facilitate student understanding of the financial model of the
Trabant University Center and Perkins Student Center and the
importance of effective and creative utilization of spaces to
promote campus vibrancy.
• Develop positive working relationships and partnerships with
other University departments in Student Life, Academic Departments,
Athletics, Development and Alumni Relations, UDPD, Risk Management,
and Purchasing / Accounting / Business, and Dining Services in the
advisement of students and delivery of creative, innovative
programs, and large-scale institutional events.
• Ensure compliance with University financial, facilities, and
risk management policies and procedures.
• Serve as advisor to general student groups, coordinates and
collaborates event efforts among student groups, and assists with
event planning.
• Support the work and mission of the Division of Student Life
through committees, task forces and special assignments.
• Serve on-call for evening events as part of rotational team to
support student staff and provide a new lens and perspective about
facility operations, students, events and programs to inform
training programs and services.
• Write reports, provide research, and fulfill other projects as
assigned by the Director.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree and three years' related experience, or
equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree in
Student Personnel or other higher education related discipline
preferred.
• Experience in the promotion, production, and marketing of
campus events.
• Ability to provide direction and guidance in maintaining
existing programs.
• Ability to create new activities and events.
• Effective communication and technical skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evening and
weekend events.
• Proven experience in working effectively with diverse
constituencies and program interest.
