Responsibilities Include:
Scholarly Resources
• Develop, manage, and promote a formalized scholarly communications program, including developing new and expanding existing library services for faculty publication and scholarship support.
• Serve as the point of contact for faculty regarding publishing, open access, digital scholarship, and maximizing impact and reach of scholarship, including assistance in creating and maintaining scholarly profiles (e.g., ORCID, HeinOnline, SSRN, Google Scholar).
• Serve as the point of contact for faculty and students for article submissions on Scholastica or other journal submission platforms.
• Provide guidance and training on Open Access, scholarly communications, and digital scholarship for the Law School community.
• Serve as the Law School’s archival liaison to facilitate record keeping of Law School documentation and transfer to University Archives.
Metadata
• Manage the Law School’s digital scholarship and open access platforms, including Digital Commons, faculty working papers in SSRN, and University of California’s eScholarship.
• Coordinate with the Law School Communications department to ensure cohesive promotion of faculty scholarship and scholarly activities online and in print.
• Maintain a bibliography of the Law School faculty’s scholarly publications.
• Build and maintain collaborative partnerships related to digital initiatives with faculty, researchers, and other campus units.
• Coordinate with others in the department to establish and maintain accurate records in Alma for faculty publications.
Collection Development
• Participate in Law Library collection development processes, including selecting and assessing resources.
• Provide leadership in efforts to continuously improve the collection to support the mission of the law school and nurture an environment of inclusive excellence.
• In coordination with colleagues in Public Services, develop and maintain content for online research guides.
• Ensure the law library’s collection reflects the scholarly output of the Law School community.
• Assist with technical processing or other related projects as needed.
• In coordination with colleagues in Access Services, effectively delegate work and provide guidance to student assistants and other library staff.
Other Services
• Provide general information, customer service, and circulation assistance through regular shifts at the Front Desk or Reference Desk, including evenings and weekends as needed.
• Develop and maintain documentation for primary job functions and participate in the maintenance of department-wide and Library-wide documentation.
• Participate actively and effectively on Law Library committees, task forces, and project teams.

Qualifications Include:
Required
• Graduate degree in library science from an ALA-accredited institution or an equivalent combination of relevant advanced degree and library experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of legal bibliography in multiple formats.
• Fluency with new and emerging data and scholarly communications technology, or a strong demonstrated interest in developing fluency.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, and effectiveness in balancing and completing multiple assignments and projects.
• Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and ability to work creatively and effectively both independently and as a team member.

General Information
Librarians are entitled to two days per month of annual leave, thirteen paid holidays, and one day per month of sick leave. The University has an excellent retirement system and offers a variety of group health, life, and disability insurance plans. Benefits are equal to approximately 45% of salary.
Librarians at UCI are academic appointees. Non-managerial librarians are represented by an exclusive bargaining agent, University Council – American Federation of Teachers (UC-AFT). This is a represented position.
As academic appointees, UCI Librarians receive potential career status at the time of their initial appointment. Librarians periodically receive administrative and peer review for merit increases based on the following criteria: 1) professional competence and quality of service within the Library; 2) professional activity outside the Library; 3) university and public service; and 4) research and other creative activity.

UCI is one of the top-ranked research universities located in Southern California, United States. Dr. Masashi Kitazawa laboratory focuses on understanding the pathogenic role of genetic and environmental interactions in Alzheimer’s disease (AD), with particular interest in the impact of neuroinflammation elicited by aging and genetic predispositions, as well as by environmental risk factors, such as exposure to air pollution and toxic metals. Through understanding the key neurodegenerative mechanisms by the gene x environmental interactions, the lab also makes effort on developing better animal models and evaluating potential therapeutic strategies using these animals. Techniques including rodent behavior tests, immunoblots, immunohistochemistry, various biochemical assays, and cell culture-based assays are routinely performed in the lab. The selected applicant will work on multiple funded studies through National Institutes of Health, widely ranging from a study to determine the neurotoxic mechanisms of air pollution to a study to evaluate pre-clinical efficacy of the gut microbiome-mediated drug delivery to treat Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The research will utilize inducible pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), various in vitro assays, such as cell viability assay, cytokine assays, ELISA and immunocytochemistry, and in vivo testing and exposure using animal models of AD. The post-doctoral researcher will work under the supervision of Dr. Masashi Kitazawa.
Duties will include: 1) work closely with Dr. Kitazawa and other team members to establish iPSC maintenance, differentiation and optimization to neurons; 2) involve in animal breeding, behavior testing, exposure and drug treatment regimens, 3) publish original research in high impact peer-reviewed journals; 4) present relevant work at various scientific meetings; and 5) support the writing of progress and final report.
Requirements include:
• Doctoral degree in neuroscience, toxicology, pharmacology, biology, chemistry or relevant field.
• At least 3 years of post-doctoral training/experience.
• Prior experience in animal models and/or iPSC are highly encouraged.
• Excellent data analysis skills and familiarity in statistical analysis software.
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written) in English.
• Ability to work independently with occasional supervision.
• Demonstrated publication record in neuroscience, toxicology or pharmacology.
• Ability to take initiative, creativity, attention to details and commitment to producing high quality work.
Funding is available for a minimum of 3 years.
Salary will be based on qualifications and experience.
