This is a full-time, non-tenure track position. Candidates must possess a Master’s degree and have a combination of academic achievement, such as professional educational designations, and professional work experience in the area of risk management and insurance. Excellent communication and writing ability are vital. Successful candidates will also demonstrate a strong ability for excellent teaching at the undergraduate level and be able to contribute to the future growth of the insurance and risk management program.

In addition to teaching classes as a lecturer, this position’s duties include serving as Director of the Center for Insurance & Risk Management and involves interacting effectively with the Dean of the College of Business (COB), department chairs, COB faculty and staff, risk management and insurance faculty, insurance industry professionals, government officials, and the board of the Arkansas Insurance Hall of Fame; nurturing existing relationships with external constituencies; establishing new relationships; and interact effectively with members of the local business community. The Director will be expected to help develop new funding for scholarships to encourage students to consider careers in the insurance industry; help secure funding for student travel to symposia for industry and academics, such as Gamma Iota Sigma Conferences, the Risk & Insurance Management Society (RIMS) Conference, and various state insurance conferences and conventions; help develop new internship and career opportunities for insurance and risk management students; and help develop and facilitate insurance industry awareness programs for high school students, teachers and guidance counselors.

EFIRM (http://uca.edu/efirm), a department of the COB, has 17 full-time faculty members who support about 230 majors in five degree programs (B.A. Economics, B.S. Economics, B.B.A. Economics with Emphasis in International Trade, B.B.A. Finance, B.B.A. Insurance and Risk Management). The department has vibrant relationships with several external employer stakeholders.

The COB (http://uca.edu/business) occupies a 70,000 square foot state-of-the-art building which houses four academic departments: (1) Accounting; (2) Economics, Finance, Insurance, and Risk Management; (3) Marketing and Management; and (4) Computer Information Systems and Analytics. The College offers thirteen undergraduate degree programs and three programs at the master's level (MAcc , MBA, and MS in Applied Data Analytics), with typical enrollment in the college averaging approximately 1,500 undergraduates and 150 graduate students. The College is accredited by AACSB.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Receive and process accounts payable invoices and check requests for payment.

Match invoices with proper purchase orders; ensure completeness and accuracy of invoices.

Verify and investigate any discrepancies by reconciling vendor accounts and monthly vendor statements.

Collaborate with campus departments to ensure timely payments to vendors and provide invoice status.

Develops and maintains databases, spreadsheets, and other fiscal reporting mechanisms, reviews, and audits fiscal information for accuracy and quality assurance.

Posts transactions to journals and/or ledgers, balances entries, and reconciles errors manually or electronically.

Performs various accounting duties and assists with budgets and fiscal monthly and year-end closing.

Researches and analyzes data, develop or revises processes or policies based on research, and submits prepared report findings to supervisor.

Performs other duties as assigned.
