The qualifications to be considered as a part-time lecturer (student teaching supervisor) are a minimum of three years teaching experience in PK-12 schools, a master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction, Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, or another teacher related field of study from an accredited institution, demonstrated experience with and knowledge of students from culturally diverse populations, knowledge of state curriculum, assessment, and pedagogy standards, and current certification in the class in which supervision is provided. Job Description

The Director of Clinical Education for the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) at Northern Arizona University (NAU) oversees the practicum and externship experiences for students in the Clinical Speech-Language Pathology program. The Director of Clinical Education acts as a liaison between the academic program administration, faculty, training sites, and students.

This is a year-round, 12-month faculty position with administrative duties. The Director of Clinical Education reports to the Department Chair. The successful applicant will join a diverse faculty that is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. NAU is designated as a Hispanic Serving Institution and as a university with a specific commitment to Indigenous Peoples. As such, we are committed to providing equitable, high impact learning opportunities and to embracing the cultural and linguistic diversity of our region.

The Director of Clinical Education will be responsible for:
• Developing, maintaining, and coordinating all clinical practicum placement sites for graduate students
• Overseeing operations of the NAU Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic
• Collaborating with the chair and faculty in delivering a high-quality, evidence-based clinical curriculum
• Maintaining ASHA accreditation standards related to clinical education
• Engaging in clinical teaching and implementing evidence-based teaching techniques
• Overseeing record keeping requirements for all students engaged in clinical experiences

Minimum Qualifications

For the rank of Assistant Clinical Professor:
• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology and eligibility for licensure in Arizona
• 2 years of clinical experience
• Experience with clinical education
• Meet ASHA continuing education requirements for clinical supervision [earned at least 2 hours of professional development post-certification (one-time requirement) in the area of supervision and/or clinical instruction]

For the rank of Associate Clinical Professor: all of the above, and

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) offers a Master of Science in Clinical Speech-Language Pathology through a full-time program and a part-time Summers Track program. We also offer an undergraduate degree preparing students for graduate work in Communication Sciences and Disorders as well as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant certificate program. We have a fully operational clinic that serves clients across the lifespan. CSD excels in its preparation of Speech-Language Pathology clinicians to become leaders in the profession by participating in a unique blend of coursework, clinical experiences, and research. This is a Faculty (FAC) position.
