Minimum Qualifications:
The qualifications to be considered as a part-time lecturer (student teaching supervisor) are a minimum of three years teaching experience in PK-12 schools, a master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction, Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, or another teacher related field of study from an accredited institution, demonstrated experience with and knowledge of students from culturally diverse populations, knowledge of state curriculum, assessment, and pedagogy standards, and current certification in the class in which supervision is provided. A field supervisor shall be an accomplished educator as shown by student learning and must be conscientious with meeting deadlines.

Job Description
The Director of Clinical Education for the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) at Northern Arizona University (NAU) oversees the practicum and externship experiences for students in the Clinical Speech-Language Pathology program. The Director of Clinical Education acts as a liaison between the academic program administration, faculty, training sites, and students.
This is a year-round, 12-month faculty position with administrative duties. The Director of Clinical Education reports to the Department Chair. The successful applicant will join a diverse faculty that is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. The Director of Clinical Education will be responsible for:
• Developing, maintaining, and coordinating all clinical practicum placement sites for graduate students
• Overseeing operations of the NAU Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic
• Collaborating with the chair and faculty in delivering a high-quality, evidence-based clinical curriculum
• Maintaining ASHA accreditation standards related to clinical education
• Engaging in clinical teaching and implementing evidence-based teaching techniques
• Overseeing record keeping requirements for all students engaged in clinical experiences
• Communicating information regarding students' clinical progress to the academic department chair and faculty
• Developing clinical performance plans to ensure clinical success for all students
• Participating in department-level strategic planning
• Coordinating interprofessional practice opportunities
• Collaborating with department faculty to create, administer, and assess results of summative assessments of student knowledge and skills
• Interacting and communicating with diverse populations
• Fostering the mission, vision, and values of NAU
• Adhering to all HIPAA, FERPA, and CAA requirements for clinical programs
• Completing all administrative duties required for clinical education
Minimum Qualifications
For the rank of Assistant Clinical Professor:
• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology and eligibility for licensure in Arizona
• 2 years of clinical experience
• Experience with clinical education
• Meet ASHA continuing education requirements for clinical supervision [earned at least 2 hours of professional development post-certification (one-time requirement) in the area of supervision and/or clinical instruction]
For the rank of Associate Clinical Professor: all of the above, and
• Equivalent of 6 years (12 semesters) of full-time college-level teaching at the rank of assistant clinical professor (or equivalent faculty classification)
Preferred Qualifications
• Doctorate degree
• Clinical experience in a variety of settings
• Experience with both pediatric and adult populations
• 7 years of clinical supervision experience
• Teaching experience for more than one college level course
• Knowledge and experience with ensuring compliance with ASHA and CAA clinical standards
• Clinical experience in providing culturally and linguistically responsive services

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) offers a Master of Science in Clinical Speech-Language Pathology through a full-time program and a part-time Summers Track program. We also offer an undergraduate degree preparing students for graduate work in Communication Sciences and Disorders as well as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant certificate program. We have a fully operational clinic that serves clients across the lifespan. CSD excels in its preparation of Speech-Language Pathology clinicians to become leaders in the profession by participating in a unique blend of coursework, clinical experiences, and research.
