A Process Development Engineer is responsible for the development, characterization and optimization of MEMS resonator devices to meet the requirements for volume production as part of the analog technology development team. Responsibilities include:
• Ownership of technology parametric performance
• Parametric Cpk improvements
• Parametric test dispositions including root cause determination for scrap or outliers, definition and evaluations of experiments to improve processes
• Short flow development
• Product flow creation/review
• Cross functional team leadership to support the development, qualification, and manufacturing of advanced analog technologies.
• Drive process and device improvements through characterization, test, design of experiments, data analysis and simulation
• Work with multiple process, integration, reliability, packaging and test engineers to achieve these goals
• Work closely with the product groups to identify and optimize the technology performance to meet critical final device parameters to enable game changing products in the market.

The person performing this role must be capable to plan effectively, drive schedules, meet critical deadlines on multiple tasks in parallel, lead technical discussions in their area of expertise, and work effectively across organizational boundaries. They must be able to clearly communicate project status and actions. Additionally, they must be able to interface with multiple organizations and work well on a diverse team to accomplish goals.

Minimum requirements:
• Masters in EE/ECE or related engineering degree
• 5 years of experience working in semiconductor factory with experience in semiconductor devices and transition of new technology from development/transfer to production on schedule

• Experience with Analog BCD technologies
• Ability to establish strong relationships with key stakeholders critical to success, both internally and externally

In ATD we develop new process platforms with step-function improvements in performance and cost, extending roadmap process technologies with new features, models and reduced costs; and creating innovative, breakthrough technologies for new markets and new products. The TI Radar BU develops mm-Wave (77GHz and 60GHz) radar devices targeted for automotive and industrial markets for enhanced safety and automation. We were the first in the industry to offer a fully integrated CMOS device for 77GHz FMCW automotive radar applications. This product won the Jack Kilby Innovation Award in 2016, as well as, several industry awards. In addition, our product portfolio has continued to expand with the inclusion of cutting-edge Antenna-on-Package (AoP) mmWave sensors for 60GHz and 77GHz applications.

The IC design team is responsible for the design of fully integrated transceivers in advanced CMOS technologies, drive product performance roadmap and technology selection for next generation devices.

The open position is for a mmWave IC Design Engineer for radar devices. The work involves the design and development of leading-edge circuits that push the performance boundary of our transceivers in both automotive and industrial applications.

What will you be doing in this role? (Responsibilities)

As a mmWave IC Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the following tasks:
• Design and develop a wide range of circuits and passives (LNAs, PAs, VCOs, Mixers, Couplers, Combiners/Splitters etc.) for different radar applications in the automotive and industrial markets and verify performance using electromagnetic simulations.
• Collaborate with the package design team to co-design mmWave transitions to improve performance metrics such as noise figure and output power.
• Collaborate with systems and firmware teams on FW algorithms for calibrations and self-test to optimize front-end performance.
• Work closely with systems, applications & marketing teams to arrive at mmWave module specifications for the targeted application space.
• Write in-depth technical documents and present design reviews to the engineering teams as well as publish and patent IPs, as appropriate.
• Drive test methodology and collaborate with characterization & product engineering teams to enable product validation and production ramp.
• Research performance analysis for next generation product definition and develop IC designs that meet the needs of emerging applications.

Minimum requirements:

Preferred Skills/Experience

Professional skill requirements include:
• A Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a strong focus in the area of mmWave IC design.
• Strong fundamentals in mmWave IC design concepts, microwave & EM theory and experience in the design of mmWave modules and passives.
• Proficiency in the use of EM simulation tools such as HFSS and PeakView.
• Experience in the design of Analog/Mixed-signal circuitry is a strong plus.

You will interface with various modules, in addition to yield, product and integration teams, to resolve issues that limit yield performance.

Minimum requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, and related degrees

• Experience with ATE production handlers like Talos/LH4/Matrix or similar
• Soldering knowledge and skills in SMT, through hole, soldering with heat gun and chip rework machinery
• Mechanical knowledge to support repair and maintain sockets/boards and setups
• Knowledge of digital and analog test methods, high speed interfaces, standard testing equipment such as scope, power meter, DVM, signal generators and analyzers, spectrum and network analyzers

• Knowledge of CAD tools for mechanical and electrical design

• Ability to work in a team setup comprising of other functional groups
• Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery
• Demonstrated ability to build strong, influential relationships
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
• Ability to take the initiative and drive for results
• Strong problem solving, verbal, and written communications skills
