Students enroll in Thinkful courses to gain the valuable technical and professional skills needed to take them from curious learners to employed technologists .
The Role
As a Mentor, you will support students by acting as an advisor, counselor, and support system as they complete the course and land their first industry job. To achieve this, you will engage with students in weekly 1-on-1 mentoring sessions bringing with you your industry knowledge and technical expertise to provide them with support and guidance as they progress through the curriculum.
• Mentor Sessions: Meet with students 1-on-1 in online video sessions to provide technical and professional support as the student progresses through the curriculum.
Ideally, Mentors display genuine student advocacy and are comfortable working in a complex, rapidly changing environment.

Our talent pool is for qualified candidates not necessarily seeking immediate employment however, open to being considered for a position when it becomes available. Requirements

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Must be coachable and adaptable to a fast-paced work environment
• Must have a reliable, high-speed Internet connection and webcam

This role has two components: directly coaching students through the job search and driving career programming to ensure our graduates have every advantage in the job search process. You’ll coach current students and new graduates through the job search over chat sessions, email, and video calls. You will set expectations, evaluate work, keep students motivated, and hold them accountable for their goals even when they're discouraged. Success for this job will be measured by the rate at which your graduates get great jobs and the level at which you ensure that you are providing the best in career coaching. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about helping people achieve their goals, and within a few weeks in-role you’ll have a great understanding of what sets our products and grads apart. Our team is motivated by helping students and helping Thinkful succeed, and we’re looking for an optimistic and positive person to join our strong team.
Responsibilities
• Guide, motivate, and coach a portfolio of job-seekers through the full lifecycle of their job search
• Review cover letters, resumes, and other materials to ensure that they are optimized and effective
• Be the go-to expert for graduates on how to prepare for and execute a successful job search
• Lead career workshops related to job search techniques, interviewing, negotiation, etc.
• Learn to support students with diverse needs, backgrounds, and experiences
• Work with your peers and manager to suggest and test new tactics to get better outcomes or to improve our efficiency
• Develop and manage group coaching sessions on elements of an effective job search strategy
• Proactively identify job seekers who need additional support and ensure they are supported as necessary
• Work with our Employer Partnership Managers to maintain employer relationships with current partners and assist in identifying new prospects.
Requirements
• 3-5 year proven track record in career coaching or related roles
• Demonstrated ability to listen, motivate, and provide valuable feedback to both fellow employees and graduates
• Ability to operate autonomously and take ownership of tasks
• Excellent organizational skills, with a strong motivation to hit monthly goals
• Maintain excellent records of graduate communications and hiring information
• Ability to clearly and concisely communicate technical and non-technical information to employers
• Passion for helping others obtain meaningful careers and providing outstanding service • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Slack

This role has two components: directly coaching students through the job search and driving career programming to ensure our graduates have every advantage in the job search process. We’re a flexible group, and the tools and tactics we use evolve over time as we experiment with new things, test them out, keep the stuff that works and retire the stuff that doesn’t.
You’ll coach current students and new graduates through the job search over chat sessions, email, and video calls. You will set expectations, evaluate work, keep students motivated, and hold them accountable for their goals even when they're discouraged. Success for this job will be measured by the rate at which your graduates get great jobs and the level at which you ensure that you are providing the best in career coaching. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about helping people achieve their goals, and within a few weeks in-role you’ll have a great understanding of what sets our products and grads apart. Our team is motivated by helping students and helping Thinkful succeed, and we’re looking for an optimistic and positive person to join our strong team.
Responsibilities
• Guide, motivate, and coach a portfolio of job-seekers through the full lifecycle of their job search
• Review cover letters, resumes, and other materials to ensure that they are optimized and effective
• Be the go-to expert for graduates on how to prepare for and execute a successful job search
• Lead career workshops related to job search techniques, interviewing, negotiation, etc.
• Learn to support students with diverse needs, backgrounds, and experiences
• Work with your peers and manager to suggest and test new tactics to get better outcomes or to improve our efficiency
• Develop and manage group coaching sessions on elements of an effective job search strategy
• Proactively identify job seekers who need additional support and ensure they are supported as necessary
• Work with our Employer Partnership Managers to maintain employer relationships with current partners and assist in identifying new prospects.
Requirements
• 3-5 year proven track record in career coaching or related roles
• Demonstrated ability to listen, motivate, and provide valuable feedback to both fellow employees and graduates
• Ability to operate autonomously and take ownership of tasks
• Excellent organizational skills, with a strong motivation to hit monthly goals
• Maintain excellent records of graduate communications and hiring information
• Ability to clearly and concisely communicate technical and non-technical information to employers
• Passion for helping others obtain meaningful careers and providing outstanding service • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Slack
Preferred
• Previous bootcamp experience
• Worked with and provided career support (e.g., coaching, recruiting) to new UI/UX professionals
• Proficiency with Salesforce, Huntr, Tableau
The pay range for this position is $49,161 - $121,732 . The actual pay will vary based on geographic location, job requirements, professional experience, and other factors.
