About the Roles
The Department of Management and Marketing at the University of Melbourne invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions at the levels of Assistant or Associate Professors in Marketing (Australian Classification Lecturer to Associate Professor). In this cycle of recruitment, we are primarily looking for candidates who have had strong quantitative training and published/are working on substantive areas of Marketing such as Digital Marketing and Marketing Strategy. Junior appointees will need to have completed a Ph.D. in Marketing or be close to completion and are expected to demonstrate the capability to publish in esteemed refereed journals. Senior appointees will have an outstanding track record in leadership, research, teaching, industry engagement, supervision of research students and mentoring of junior colleagues. All appointees will be expected to contribute to the collegial and intellectual life of the Department and their academic disciplines. They will develop and teach into the Department’s Master of Digital Marketing and/or the quantitative subjects offered in our undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs.

The School of Geography, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences was formally established in 2021, following the merger of the Schools of Geography and Earth Sciences. The new School synergises discipline strengths in geography, atmospheric science and geoscience. The School offers undergraduate and graduate research programs in these core discipline areas, and in the multi-disciplinary fields of Climate Change, Environmental Science and Archaeological Science.

The research within the School is built upon extensive expertise in geography, geoscience and atmospheric science, ranging from the social sciences through to the quantitative physical sciences. In addition to internationally recognised discipline expertise, we have strengths in a number of multi-disciplinary areas including: climate change; resource futures; space, place and social change; environmental hazards; Indigenous knowledge; and Earth system interactions.

About the Role
You will join a vibrant teaching and research culture in the School, which embraces its key disciplines as well as the multi-disciplinary synergies across the School and Faculty. You will contribute to teaching excellence, primarily in the atmospheric science program, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as contributing to multi-disciplinary subject areas. You will also make significant contributions to research and develop your own research agenda that will have an impact on the academic knowledge and the broader community.

You will be appointed at either Academic Level B or Level C based upon your experience and achievements as determined by the Selection Panel’s assessment of your application.

Responsibilities include:
• Conducting a program of research that contributes to the atmospheric science discipline in the School of Geography, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences
• Publishing research findings in international refereed journals and present results at seminars, conferences, and meetings. The term publish should be interpreted broadly and may include the submission of government policies, industry recommendations, or other outputs recognised by the discipline
• Actively participating in the School’s undergraduate and graduate teaching programs in atmospheric science as well as multi-disciplinary teaching, including for example the preparation and delivery of lectures, practicals and field work programs
• Contributing to a range of administrative functions, including those connected with their research activities, teaching responsibilities and the administration and governance of the School and / or Faculty of Science

About You
The successful applicant will have teaching and research interests that focus on climate science and may also intersect with one or more of these multidisciplinary areas, such as climate change or environmental hazards.

They will be able to demonstrate an ability to teach broadly into an undergraduate atmospheric science program, multi-disciplinary subjects on climate science, and graduate courses focused on their area of expertise, and the capacity to supervise undergraduate and graduate research students.

You will also have:
• A PhD in atmospheric science or a related discipline
• An established (level C), or emerging (level B), track record of publications on one or more aspects of climate science in leading international journals or other high-quality publications, relative to career opportunity
• A demonstrated (level C), or emerging (level B), capacity to establish collaborations and engage with a broad range of researchers nationally and internationally
• Evidence of the ability to lead and attract external research funding from national competitive research bodies or other sources, which may include industry, government, community groups, etc (level C). For level B applicants, this may include participation in joint applications and programs

Visiting Fellowship Program

The Australian Centre provides a home for world-leading research that advances critical understandings of how Australia’s founding as a settler colony continues to inform, shape, and constrain our capacity to engage with the central challenges of our age, including Indigenous-settler relations, climate change, and refugee justice.

The Australian Centre is launching a Visiting Fellowship Program in 2023 and is seeking expressions of interest for two early and mid-career researchers to the Australian Centre to collaborate on innovative research that promotes the study of Indigenous-settler relations.

Through collaboration with Australian Centre researchers, Fellows, Affiliated Researchers, and Stakeholders, as a Visiting Fellow, you will contribute to the collegial research culture at the University of Melbourne and enhance the research profile of the Australian Centre domestically and abroad.
During the visiting period, you will be invited to participate fully in Australian Centre activities including engagement and networking events.

There are currently two visiting fellowship periods open.
• March– July 2023
• July – December 2023

Fellowships will be for a minimum 30 days, maximum 90 days as per the PD.

Fellowship requirements
Visiting Fellows are guests of the Australian Centre community and more broadly of the University of Melbourne. As a Visiting Fellow, you will be ‘hosted’ by a Centre fellow or Associate as their main point of reference and appointed directly to the Centre. You will be able to access the daily academic life of the Centre, university access and systems, and where appropriate Centre office space.

As a Visiting Fellow, you will be engaged with research that connects with the Centre’s annual research theme (which in 2023 is Country, Climate, Colonialism). You may be associated with one or more existing Centre projects or use their visit to seed and develop a new project connected to the annual research theme.

You will have varying time commitments to Centre activities though are equally required to take an active part in relevant project activities in collaboration with relevant Centre Fellows and other events/engagements as determined by Centre management and collaborating Centre Fellows.

KEY ACTIVITIES
• Take an active part in one or more Australian Centre projects or work to seed and develop a new project, relevant to the fellow’s expertise and connections to the Centre’s annual research theme.
• Take an active part in the academic life of the Australian Centre through participation in all-staff events and activities that pertain to the visiting affiliation.
• Provide appropriate mentoring and advice to Centre staff and graduate research students.

Each Visiting Fellow will be provided with:
• AUD$5,000 (Australian-based) and AUD$9,000 (international) maximum allowance in costs towards economy-class travel and accommodation
