The Department of Environmental Science is one of the largest departments in the Faculty of Science. The department is divided into four units with more than 190 researchers, teachers, doctoral students and technical/administrative staff from over 30 countries. Research and teaching focuses on chemical contaminants, atmospheric science, biogeochemistry and (eco)toxicology. As an employee at the Department of Environmental Science you will be part of a dynamic environment with a strong international profile.

Research at the Atmospheric Science Unit focuses on understanding atmospheric processes, and their consequences for human health and climate. The majority of our research activities focuses on understanding the life cycle, and the health and climate impacts of aerosol particles. Studies investigating the chemical composition and chemical processing of aerosols are central... for the research activities. The methodologies applied range from laboratory studies to in-situ and satellite observations and from molecular modelling to global scale simulations. Stockholm University was ranked 19 in the field of Atmospheric Science in the Shanghai Rankings (ARWU) per academic subject in 2022. The Atmospheric Science Unit has around 40 members and a track record of hosting several prestigious grants from e.g. the European Research Council, Horizon 2020 actions, Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundations, Swedish research Council and Formas. Besides the research activities outlined above, education is an integral part of our portfolio including a BSc program and a MSc program in Environmental Science, a MSc program in Environmental and Health Protection, and a PhD program in Environmental Science. The Atmospheric Science Unit annually produces several dozen peer-reviewed papers, a few book chapters, and several reports. The researchers are also very active in communicating their research to the wider public and policy and decision makers.

Subject description
Aerosol chemistry is the subject of the chemical composition, formation, and transformation of atmospheric aerosol particles.

Main responsibilities
Research and in addition some teaching and supervision.

Qualification requirements
In order to qualify for the position as assistant professor, the applicant must have completed a doctoral degree in Sweden or an equivalent degree from another country. In the first instance, an applicant should be considered who has received such a degree no more than five years before the deadline for applications. However, an applicant who has received such a degree earlier may be considered under special circumstances.

All teaching positions at Stockholm University require the ability to collaborate and the general ability and suitability to perform one's duties.

Assessment criteria
In the appointment process, special attention will be given to research skills. Teaching skills will also be considered.

The assessment of research skills will focus primarily on merits within the subject area of the position.

Additional information
For this position, the assistant professor is employed until further notice, but no longer than six years. The contract may be extended to a maximum of eight years under special circumstances, such as due to sick leave or parental leave.

An assistant professor may, on application, be promoted to a permanent position as associate professor. Specific criteria for promotion from assistant professor to associate professor have been established by the Faculty of Science .

An application for promotion to associate professor should be submitted to the faculty at least nine months before the appointment as assistant professor expires.

This position (in Swedish, "biträdande lektor") is a tenure track position, and the qualification requirements and terms of employment are regulated by the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 2017:844).

Some teaching and administrative tasks in the department require Swedish language skills. If the successful candidate does not speak Swedish at the time of appointment, he/she is expected to acquire the necessary language skills, and the Department will support the successful candidate to develop their Swedish language skills in the years following recruitment. At the time of promotion to Associate Professor, the candidate is expected to be able to carry out teaching and administrative duties that require good command of Swedish.

Vi vill nu förstärka lärarkåren med en eller två yrkesverksamma lärare och tolkar med erfarenhet inom tolkning i offentlig sektor mellan svenska och arabiska.

Arbetsuppgifter

I anställningen ingår att undervisa i tolkning mellan svenska och arabiska... både teoretiskt och praktiskt, varför gedigen undervisningserfarenhet är av vikt. I uppdraget ingår även viss administration, och man förväntas dessutom delta i examination, kursplanering och kursutveckling.

Behörighetskrav

Adjungerad lärare är en anställningsform för lärare som har sin huvudsakliga verksamhet utanför högskoleväsendet. Anställningen är tidsbegränsad med möjlighet till förlängning, och på deltid. Syftet med anställning som adjungerad lärare är att tillföra sådan kompetens som normalt inte finns i den ordinarie verksamheten och som är nödvändig för en utbildning av hög kvalitet.

Behörig att anställas är yrkesverksam lärare och tolk med mycket goda kunskaper i svenska och arabiska. Erfarenhet från tidigare undervisning i tolkning på universitet eller högskola är ett krav. Pedagogisk utbildning och/eller doktorsexamen är en merit. Som allmänt behörighetskrav gäller att ha såväl förmåga att samarbeta som den förmåga och lämplighet i övrigt som behövs för att fullgöra arbetsuppgifterna.

Bedömningsgrunder

Vid tillsättningen kommer vikt att fästas vid den sökandes pedagogiska skicklighet visad under tidigare utbildning av tolkar. Vikt fästes vid den sökandes förmåga att samarbeta med lärarkollegor, teknisk och administrativ personal samt forskare.

Anställningsvillkor

Anställningen avser en eller två lärare med sammanlagd tjänstgöring upp till 49 % av heltid och är tidsbegränsad till tolv månader med möjlighet till förlängning. Stockholms universitet tillämpar individuell lönesättning. Ange därför gärna löneanspråk. Tillträde enligt överenskommelse.

Spider is a national centre for ICT for development, ”ICT4D”, established in 2004 with core funding from the Swedish development agency Sida. The purpose of the Centre is to create a deeper understanding for the role of ICT as a productive instrument in developing countries and to increase Swedish researcher’s engagement in concrete projects in these countries. Today Spider is a well-known ICT4D actor with 17 projects in five countries. Stockholm Spider is a national centre for ICT for development, ”ICT4D”, established in 2004 with core funding from the Swedish development agency Sida. The purpose of the Centre is to create a deeper understanding for the role of ICT as a productive instrument in developing countries and to increase Swedish researcher’s engagement in concrete projects in these countries. Today Spider is a well-known ICT4D actor with 17 projects in five countries.

Stockholm University with the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences (DSV) in Kista is the administrative host of the Centre. Operations are led by a board with academic, industry and civil society representatives. Spider’s focus areas are democracy, education and health. Currently, the centre has seven employees and an annual budget of about 17 MSEK.

We are now looking for a Director to run and develop the Centre, within the framework set by the board. Important tasks, in addition to handling on-going projects, is to work for a continued close... cooperation with Sida, an increased engagement from Swedish universities and other stakeholders, to create new external funding, e.g. from the EU or other international donors and to strengthen Spider’s brand.
