REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
1. A 2 year or 4 year degree from an accredited institution in Food Production, Food & Nutrition Education, Culinary Arts or a related field
2. Dietician Certification helpful

3. Qualified cook with experience in institutional food service operations, with experience in school nutrition operations preferred.

4. At least 2 to five years responsible experience in school food service, and at least one year in a supervisory capacity.

5. Be knowledgeable of Federal/State regulations in the National School Lunch Program, IDPH Sanitation standards

6.Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally with employees, administrators, students, and parents.

7. Must have or willing to obtain a Managers food handler’s License.

8. Must have a personal vehicle to use for traveling to various schools within the district

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Communicating effectively with Director, department staff, district personnel and parents in regard to all aspects of the school meal program
2. Development and implementation of production records and menus
3. Ensures all recipes are standardized, meeting the federal nutrition guidelines
4. Assist in diversion of commodities
5. Oversees the preparation, service and sales of onsite and satellite meals
9. Assist cafeterias with marketing and merchandising food products

10. Plans and coordinates training days for department staff
11. Subbing in the school lunch rooms/kitchens as needed to keep the operation running smoothly
12. Assist with Breakfast, lunch, and snack audits.
13. Acts as the immediate supervisor for all Food Service staff members.

• Complete functional vision assessments and written reports
• Conduct evaluations of the orientation and mobility needs of visually impaired students, and written reports
• Facilitate students in acquiring the ability to move about and travel safely and efficiently both within and beyond

familiar confines of the school community
• Participate in IEP meetings and assist the team in determining education needs related to vision
• Recommend specialized materials, equipment, and technology to meet the students’ educational needs
• Provide training on materials, equipment, and technology to students and staff, as needed
• Communicate and plan with teachers about the modification of instructions to meet the students’ educational needs
• Adapt materials for students who are visually impaired
• Communicate with Special Education Case Managers and Dept. Chairs
