Our work is bolstered by extensive research that enables us to educate policymakers and other stakeholders about key issues impacting America’s entrepreneurs and to target and measure our programs most effectively.

We are a team of 30, headquartered in Washington, DC, with offices in California (four locations), Denver, Chicago, Atlanta, and Albuquerque.

We are expanding our public policy and government affairs work. Our current Public Policy Director is transitioning to a new position focused on state policy and outreach. We seek an experienced professional to directly manage our national advocacy, particularly our relationships on Capitol Hill and with the Biden administration.

This position reports to the Vice President of Policy & Advocacy and collaborates with the CEO.

Job Description

· Manage relationships with Capitol Hill and the administration, including congressional committees, members of Congress, federal agencies, and the White House

· Track key federal legislative and regulatory developments

· Testify at committee hearings, coordinate support/oppose letters and meet with federal policymakers and staff to advocate for the organization’s policy priorities

· Build and maintain relationships with national small business-focused organizations

· Direct national advocacy campaigns

· Work with the Engagement and Communications teams to build small business and organizational support for advocacy campaigns

· Engage with the media and participate on panels, webinars, and other public speaking opportunities

· Support policy & advocacy fundraising as needed

Background & Experience

· 7-10 years’ experience working on public policy and government affairs at the federal level

· Capitol Hill and/or executive branch experience preferred

· Prior experience with business/economic issues preferred

· Small business/entrepreneurship policy expertise a plus

· Superior written and oral communications skills
