As a distribution specialist you'll be the one making sure orders reach our customers with quality and on time, every time. In this role, you will closely work together with our manufacturing teams to timely handle the inbound, quality and outbound process of our unique products. Why is a Process Technician important to us?

As a Process Technician together with your team, you will be tasked with executing the complete 3D printing manufacturing process from start to end, seeing a virtual model getting created into its final physical product. In executing and operating all the processes and equipment you will become intimately familiar with the entire manufacturing process, enabling you to 1) make sound judgments and provide critical feedback on whether models can be made given varied material parameters; 2) relentlessly improve the manufacturing processes and eliminate waste to improve customer value. As a true team player, you will not only be expected to run your part of production but also help your team with operations, process, and product improvements. In short, together with your team, you will work in a fast and ever-changing environment making sure that every customer order is printed in time to perfection and provide critical feedback to improve product quality and production efficiency.

This is a full time role and will require you to work Monday - Friday, from 8am-5pm EST.

In this role, you will:
• Liaise with Supply Chain for optimal volume allocation guarding customer lead-times and costs
• Assess the feasibility of printing customer models given varied material parameters
• Plan 3D printers for maximum utilization and efficiency
• Manage, stock, and prepare the 3D print material
• Together with the team own and ensure timely post-production and shipping of customer models
• Conduct quality control processes on product and equipment
• Provide input and drive improvements and automation to enable scaling of the service
• Operate and maintain our 3D printers with a focus on printer uptime, with a goal to reduce equipment failure, identify root causes, create preventative maintenance best practices and improvements to equipment
• Provide operational support to other departments when required.

Overview

Shapeways is looking for a "hands-on" Manager, DevOps Engineering with excellent technical, communication, and collaboration skills to help us transition our physical infrastructure over to AWS’ cloud platform. As our Manager, DevOps Engineering, you'll work closely with our Application Development teams, Product teams, and business stakeholders to analyze, design, and build a highly scalable infrastructure-as-code (IaC) cloud solution. You will also be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our physical infrastructure (in New York and Eindhoven), improving our DevOps processes, and supporting our internal Systems Engineering, IT, Application Development and Data teams so as to ensure the security, scalability, and reliability of our systems and applications.

In this role, you will:
• Manage a team of Systems and IT engineers working to deliver technology solutions to a wide variety of stakeholders. Your team owns multiple technology systems, and you will own the day-to-day management of those systems, where you are accountable for the customer experience, project prioritization, software quality, and system maintenance
• Collaborate with your team to design and deploy best-in-class infrastructure services for logging, monitoring, alerting, etc.
• Help to make trade-offs; balancing the larger picture (e.g, resourcing, business goals, user experience, dependency impacts, efficiency, availability, etc.) against the needs of creating, maintaining, refactoring, scaling, and extending features to properly support the life of a system

• 7+ years of engineering experience; 3+ of those years as a people manager: coaching and mentoring engineers to improve code and platform quality, performance management, and an evangelist for professional development
• Accelerates progress, clears or escalates blockers, and creates opportunities for growth
• Technical experience in managing a highly available and highly scalable cloud environment in AWS; Kubernetes experience is a plus
