Job Description

We are seeking a Regional Philanthropy Officer to serve our community and support our lifesaving services. These mission-critical roles serve as the key steward for a portfolio of current and prospective philanthropists in support of the American Red Cross.

The Role
• Engage in relationships with corporate, while having a significant amount of opportunity to develop giving strategies.
• Ensure retention and growth of donor contributions.
• Meet or exceed a minimum annual fundraising target including renewable gifts and new incremental revenue, adjusting as necessary in the event of major domestic disasters.
• Design and disseminate customized solicitation strategies targeting donor interests in partnership with cross-departmental teams; maintain up-to-date donor records in region/chapter database following donor contact.
• This is a hybrid work position. You will work from a home office, meet with donors in person as needed, and be available to come into the office for meetings as needed (Fort Wayne or Indianapolis).
• Advance the organizational mission and creating meaningful impact in the lives of both donors and beneficiaries of that mission.
• Requires travel within the northeast and northwest areas of the state to meet with donors.

What You’ll Need

Job Description

The American Red Cross is seeking an Events Coordinator who will be responsible for the success of Chapter fundraising events. You will plan, coordinate and implement events in collaboration with staff and volunteer leadership. Our events are designed to raise funds for and promote community awareness of Red Cross services. You will also develop and execute plans to identify, cultivate, solicit and recognize event underwriters/sponsors and other event participants and provision of staff support for relevant committees.

This is a non-exempt position and will work with our fundraising team to support the Illinois Region.

Responsibilities
• Research and donor development: Researches, identifies, cultivates and solicits new and existing donors for monetary and/or in-kind gifts to support chapter special events. Recognizes potential for increased donor involvement and capitalizes on opportunities to grow existing relationships. Identifies event sponsors for potential enhanced or increased partnership opportunities with the chapter.
• Relationship development: Develops effective working relationships with donors, volunteers, government and foundation representatives to nurture their connections to ARC. May oversee collaboration with internal communications and marketing groups for strategies and materials.
• Provides leadership and guidance to assigned event chairs and committees. Directs the activities of and serves as the primary staff liaison to the volunteer committees for assigned chapter special events.
• Event planning project development: Creates and collaborates with other development staff on special events project plans & participates in budget development. Monitors event outcomes including revenue and expenses and results in order to increase special event program growth. Manages implementation, and production of all fundraising events including vendor relationships, budgets, and event logistics.
• Events Material Development: Collaborates with Communications and Marketing to develop materials related to events including media releases and photo sessions. Also handles interviews.
• Provides volunteer or staff work direction: Directs the work of development volunteers or staff regarding administrative support duties including recording and tracking donor invoices, acknowledgement correspondence, mass mailings, thank you letters, support at the event, etc.

Qualifications
• Education: High School or equivalent required.
• Experience: Minimum 7 years of related experience and documented success in event planning or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
• Skills & Abilities: Leadership ability with exemplary interpersonal, verbal, listening and written communication skills. Partner internally and externally with others to develop the organization. Must be open, friendly, and comfortable with diverse groups with the ability to network effectively and establish long-term relationships with the community. Ability to resolve conflict and promote cooperation, commitment, momentum, and pride. Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong skills in planning and problem-solving. Capable of directing and working effectively with donors, volunteers, staff, and committees in a wide range of activities while under pressure and/or deadlines. Intermediate level proficiency with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

We are currently seeking a Regional Disaster Program Officer (CO & WY) to work in our Colorado and Wyoming region. This position will work 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday, and some weekends and evenings will be required during times of business need. Travel will also be involved up to 20% of the time.

Oversee, through a team to include both paid and volunteer workforce, the successful implementation of the volunteer-led disaster cycle services program throughout the region in alignment with established program standards. • Oversee and support a paid and volunteer team responsible for the implementation of volunteer-led disaster cycle services programming throughout the region. Ensure disaster cycle services are delivered in a rapid and accessible manner to meet the urgent, disaster-caused needs of our clients, with a focus on vulnerable or under-served communities.
• Develop and support disaster volunteers who are the primary workforce. Champion and drive the development of Disaster Leadership Volunteers to meet service delivery needs. Lead and empower a diverse team of volunteers and employees. This includes, but is not limited to, hiring, training, coaching, delegating, coordinating, and evaluating and managing performance to ensure a well-qualified, empowered team and enhance programmatic success.
• Facilitate regional efforts to mobilize communities to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters and emergencies. Ensure inclusion of diverse stakeholders across the disaster cycle. Meet the needs and expectations of clients and stakeholders.
• Build relationships and collaborate with internal partners, employees, volunteers, communities, and external organizations. Work collaboratively with internal partners to implement strategies for strengthening the Red Cross brand, ensure effective communication and deliver timely and effective services. Cultivate collaboration between lines of service to meet shared objectives and goals.
• Serve as the regional Red Cross disaster thought leader and ensure interface with community-based, non-governmental and faith-based organizations supporting disaster services, key emergency management and government entities, and other leaders in the field of emergency services, disaster policy and operations, vulnerable communities, and community resiliency.
• Initiate and scale a regional response when required. Work with Division staff who provide oversight and management on the regional response and support escalation to Divisional or National response. Serve during times of disaster as the operational leader for the region for any scale of disaster. Participate in a leadership role on larger operations for region, division, or nationwide. Must be able to perform all assigned responsibilities under “grey sky” requirements with potential for deployment as directed.
• Oversee the successful implementation of the disaster cycle services program in alignment with established program standards. Lead project/program implementation. Monitor and collect data and present key performance indicators and updates to management. Work with division disaster team to develop gap plans for program areas not achieving expectations or metrics.

Scope: Establish operating policies and procedures that affect departments and subordinate sections and work units. Interpret company-wide policies and procedures. Develop budgets, schedules, and performance standards. Job level is also determined by additional factors including regional disaster risk assessment, which contributes to job complexity

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree required.
