Job Description

Responsibilities

Job Description
The Procurement Specialist will have 5+ yrs. of experience in the Commercial Construction industry, experience with project-based work, vendor/industry contacts, construction product knowledge, and negotiating experience. The goal for the Procurement Specialist is to expand PROCON's direct purchasing capabilities in order to save money for our clients, increase on time delivery to jobsites and increase PROCON's profit margin.
• Work closely with construction project management staff to continually stay informed of all current and future projects to determine our purchasing needs
• Buy products direct instead of packaging with a subcontractor when possible. (i.e., light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, heat units, generators, siding, concrete, flooring, accessories, etc.)
• Ensure that PROCON LLC procures the most competitive rates for all materials associated with construction by identifying and building a competitive vendor base providing timely deliveries.
• Seek out, build relationships, negotiate and purchase PROCON's construction materials. (i.e., flooring, windows, doors, tile, lumber, etc.) at the lowest total cost
• Develop & maintain a complete understanding and correct specification description of all materials & commodities purchased by PROCON LLC on a repeat basis.
• Establish a quick rapport with vendors, and maintain an active network of contacts in the vendor community & with industry associations
• Continually evaluate new supplier/vendor options to ensure PROCON LLC is getting the best possible rates and quality on needed materials
• Maintain an up-to-date awareness of the latest industry or product changes.
• Attend industry trade shows to see latest industry trends and meet manufacturers.
• Issue properly documented Purchase Orders and contracts, follow-up with vendors on orders placed to ensure timely delivery of materials.
Qualifications
• Firsthand experience with project-based purchasing of materials and subcontractors in the construction industry preferred
• 5+ years of construction industry experience preferred
• Familiarity with contracts and purchase orders required
• Ability to negotiate, build relationships, and have excellent time management skills
• Excellent follow-up and general construction industry and material knowledge
• Must take initiative to work collaboratively as part of a project team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Acute attention to detail
• MS Office Suite, Bluebeam, Procore, and construction purchasing software experience preferred
• Ability to manage priorities and workflow of multiple projects
• Project-based purchasing backgrounds, solid project management, estimating, and/or sales skills within the construction industry will be considered.

Job Description
The Procurement Specialist will have 5+ yrs. of experience in the Commercial Construction industry, experience with project-based work, vendor/industry contacts, construction product knowledge, and negotiating experience. The goal for the Procurement Specialist is to expand PROCON's direct purchasing capabilities in order to save money for our clients, increase on time delivery to jobsites and increase PROCON's profit margin.
• Work closely with construction project management staff to continually stay informed of all current and future projects to determine our purchasing needs
• Buy products direct instead of packaging with a subcontractor when possible. (i.e., light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, heat units, generators, siding, concrete, flooring, accessories, etc.)
• Ensure that PROCON LLC procures the most competitive rates for all materials associated with construction by identifying and building a competitive vendor base providing timely deliveries.
• Seek out, build relationships, negotiate and purchase PROCON's construction materials. (i.e., flooring, windows, doors, tile, lumber, etc.) at the lowest total cost
• Develop & maintain a complete understanding and correct specification description of all materials & commodities purchased by PROCON LLC on a repeat basis.
• Establish a quick rapport with vendors, and maintain an active network of contacts in the vendor community & with industry associations
• Continually evaluate new supplier/vendor options to ensure PROCON LLC is getting the best possible rates and quality on needed materials
• Maintain an up-to-date awareness of the latest industry or product changes.
• Attend industry trade shows to see latest industry trends and meet manufacturers.
• Issue properly documented Purchase Orders and contracts, follow-up with vendors on orders placed to ensure timely delivery of materials.
Qualifications
• Firsthand experience with project-based purchasing of materials and subcontractors in the construction industry preferred
• 5+ years of construction industry experience preferred
• Familiarity with contracts and purchase orders required
• Ability to negotiate, build relationships, and have excellent time management skills
• Excellent follow-up and general construction industry and material knowledge
• Must take initiative to work collaboratively as part of a project team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Acute attention to detail
• MS Office Suite, Bluebeam, Procore, and construction purchasing software experience preferred
• Ability to manage priorities and workflow of multiple projects
• Project-based purchasing backgrounds, solid project management, estimating, and/or sales skills within the construction industry will be considered.
• The ability to read construction documents is required.
• Prior experience purchasing direct from manufacturers is also a big plus.
