This is a role well suited to an ambitiousprofessional, looking for the next step in their career. As a SeniorAccountant- Principles and Methods, you will beresponsible to:
• Review leasing and other contracts in closecoordination with relevant key business contacts and related accounting in linewith Siemens Financial Reporting Guidelines (FRGs) / International FinancialReporting Standards (IFRS)
• Review of venture capital investments in linewith relevant IFRS
• Draft accounting position / white papers for newaccounting pronouncements and ensure that existing policies reflect currentaccounting guidance
• Advise management on complex accounting topicsincluding asset impairment reviews
• Key role player, both from accounting andproject management perspective, in implementation of new IFRS requirements andother AC projects e.g. new acquisitions, AC system integration
• Identify and implement process improvements
• Analyze, prepare and/or support periodicreporting and review various account reconciliations
• Review and/or process entries in accordance withIFRS/GAAP requirements
• Support financial statements closing process
• Support Internal and external audit teamsincluding RIC

Requiredskills to have for the success of this role
• At least bachelor's degree in related discipline
• Professional certification e.g., CPA preferred
• 8+ years of publicand/or industry accounting experience that includes working in technicalaccounting groups or a combination of experience, education or certifications IFRS/GAAP knowledge with ability to write well-reasonedposition papers

JOB DESCRIPTION

This is paraprofessional support work involving the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidelines in independently maintaining non-complex accounts within an established accounting system or assisting senior accounting personnel responsible for maintaining complex accounts. Non-complex accounts are characterized by a relatively small number of fund types, revenue sources, cost centers, and cost allocations. Employees in this classification examine, account for, reconcile, analyze, and interpret basic accounting data and records in accordance with GAAP/GASB standards, state/agency accounting procedures, and appropriate internal controls. Employees use and apply basic accounting theory to analyze and resolve standard accounting transaction problems. Employees interact with programmatic staff to exchange factual information, explain accounting processes, and resolve accounting discrepancies and disputes. This classification is distinguished from Account Clerks by the fact that Accounting Technician work requires knowledge of accounting principles and includes preparing financial and statistical reports and summaries. Supervision may be exercised over office support and/or clerical staff. Work is performed under general supervision.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting theories, principles, methods, practices, and terminology.
• Knowledge of governmental accounting standards and systems.
• Knowledge of computerized accounting systems.
• Knowledge of standardized desktop technology and products.
• Knowledge of spelling, punctuation, grammar, and business English.
• Knowledge of office methods and procedures.
• Ability to apply generally accepted accounting principles to account for revenue, expenditures, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Ability to review fiscal transactions for conformity with applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to verify, code, compute, and/or reconcile data on standard documents.
• Ability to prepare complete and accurate accounting and financial reports and statements.
• Ability to type varied routine business correspondence from draft or original source documents to revised or final form.
• Ability to organize and maintain computerized and/or manual files.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Three (3) years of practical work experience providing complex technical support to professional accounting staff -OR- an Associate’s Degree from an accredited educational institution in Accounting -OR- any Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution that includes 12 semester hours in accounting coursework. Accounting coursework must include successful completion of Principles of Accounting I & II plus two other accounting-related courses. Experience must demonstrate a comprehension of accounting principles and standards established by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).

LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class).

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily operations of the accounting department.

• Working knowledge of short- and long-term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and business-line profitability analysis.
