• Review leasing and other contracts in closecoordination with relevant key business contacts and related accounting in linewith Siemens Financial Reporting Guidelines (FRGs) / International FinancialReporting Standards (IFRS)
• Review of venture capital investments in linewith relevant IFRS
• Draft accounting position / white papers for newaccounting pronouncements and ensure that existing policies reflect currentaccounting guidance
• Advise management on complex accounting topicsincluding asset impairment reviews
• Key role player, both from accounting andproject management perspective, in implementation of new IFRS requirements andother AC projects e.g. new acquisitions, AC system integration

JOB DESCRIPTION
This is paraprofessional support work involving the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidelines in independently maintaining non-complex accounts within an established accounting system or assisting senior accounting personnel responsible for maintaining complex accounts. Non-complex accounts are characterized by a relatively small number of fund types, revenue sources, cost centers, and cost allocations. Employees in this classification examine, account for, reconcile, analyze, and interpret basic accounting data and records in accordance with GAAP/GASB standards, state/agency accounting procedures, and appropriate internal controls. Employees use and apply basic accounting theory to analyze and resolve standard accounting transaction problems. Employees interact with programmatic staff to exchange factual information, explain accounting processes, and resolve accounting discrepancies and disputes. This classification is distinguished from Account Clerks by the fact that Accounting Technician work requires knowledge of accounting principles and includes preparing financial and statistical reports and summaries. Supervision may be exercised over office support and/or clerical staff. Work is performed under general supervision.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting theories, principles, methods, practices, and terminology.
• Knowledge of governmental accounting standards and systems.
• Knowledge of computerized accounting systems.
• Knowledge of standardized desktop technology and products.
• Knowledge of spelling, punctuation, grammar, and business English.
• Knowledge of office methods and procedures.
• Ability to apply generally accepted accounting principles to account for revenue, expenditures, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Ability to review fiscal transactions for conformity with applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to verify, code, compute, and/or reconcile data on standard documents.
• Ability to prepare complete and accurate accounting and financial reports and statements.
• Ability to type varied routine business correspondence from draft or original source documents to revised or final form.
• Ability to organize and maintain computerized and/or manual files.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Three (3) years of practical work experience providing complex technical support to professional accounting staff -OR- an Associate’s Degree from an accredited educational institution in Accounting -OR- any Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution that includes 12 semester hours in accounting coursework. Accounting coursework must include successful completion of Principles of Accounting I & II plus two other accounting-related courses. Experience must demonstrate a comprehension of accounting principles and standards established by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).

Valor Communities is looking for a Controller that will provide leadership and coordination to the accounting operations. This position reports to the CFO and oversees all accounting operations, ensuring Valor's accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily operations of the accounting department.
• Manage accounting staff.
• Establish and implement short- and long-term departmental goals, objectives.
• Maintain policies and operating procedures, including internal controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
• Assist with monthly closings and production of associated financial statements.
• Manage the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
• Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget.
• Provide regular financial analysis of company cash flows, accounts receivables, accounts payable.
• Work with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit and tax evaluation for Ownership estimated quarterly tax payments.
• Manage third-party payroll company to ensure all payroll and quarterly filings have been completed.
• Manage day-to-day relationship with Valor's commercial banking partner.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
• Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems. Knowledge of Marks Systems preferred but not required.
• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
• Working knowledge of short- and long-term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and business-line profitability analysis.
• Proficient with the Microsoft Office product suite with strong Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills; able to exercise sound judgement and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis.
• Hands-on leader willing to lead, motivate, and work alongside staff at all levels (from Executive to frontline employee).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration required.
• Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred but not required.
• Five to ten years of total experience in finance or accounting positions with five plus years or more experience in construction accounting
