What do our Plant Care Specialists do?
As a Plant Care Specialist, you must be dependable, hardworking, and able to work independently. Each day you will visit various customer sites and provide care for the plants by performing trained tasks such as grooming, rotating and watering. You must also possess a genuine desire to service customers by taking the best possible care of the plants in their work environment.
There are three main components to this position; (1) Plant care maintenance, (2) Supporting plantscape and hygiene services installations; (3) Holiday installation.
Plant Care/Scenting/Air Purification maintenance
• Visit customer sites on a regular basis as established by route plan
• Safely drive a service vehicle in urban and rural settings
• Spend up to 50% of your shift driving
• Service all required plants on the specified day - Water, prune, and fertilize plants as needed; Trim, and removing debris from planters; Gauge soil moisture accurately with a soil probe
• Exercise trained techniques to apply appropriate amounts of water per lighting conditions and plant requirements.
• Maintain and communicate appropriate light conditions and orientation
• Ensure plants as well as display containers are clean and free of dust and debris
• Keeping all plants free from diseases and insects
• Maintain appearance of top dressing and other ornamental elements
• Occasional work from ladders up to 6ft to reach and service tall plants and living wall systems
• Prevent damage to surrounding floors, walls, carpet, furniture, etc. from water and/or moisture
• Maintain scenting and air purification equipment as necessary
• Provide world class customer service to our clients
• Establish first name based relationships with our clients to address their concerns and check in with them on every service
• Recognize and communicate additional Ambius product needs to grow the business
• Complete a required electronic service report to accurately document service tasks
Plantscape and Hygiene Service installation
• Assist on a variety of plantscape installations including interior or exterior container gardens, wall-mounted systems, commercial plantscapes, and more.
• Safely loading and unloading the material and equipment
• Safely hanging and mounting wall installations with your teammates
• Planting vessels with a wide variety of plants
Holiday installation / removal
• Assist on holiday decoration installations decorating the interior and exterior of buildings with a team
• Assist on the removal of holiday decorations as needed at the end of the season
What do you need?
• Solid communication and critical problem solving skills
• Experience caring for plants is preferred
• Experience interacting with clients
• Have a good driving record and ability to drive a van / truck
• Able to safely climb ladders and work on ladders
• Experience using pruners, scissors, and other sharp objects
• Must pass pre-employment background screen
• Must possess a valid driver's license and pass motor vehicle record search

If yes, then you might be a perfect fit for our growing, woman-led team! Oakland Green Interiors (we're a division of Oakland Nursery) is currently hiring summer help... for our installation crew.
This job will involve installing exterior plant projects (planting containers or beds, watering, and maintenance of installed projects) and interior plant projects. Your typical week may have a few days planting annuals around Columbus, installing living plants in a commercial space, or installing a moss or living wall. The other days might be spent on a maintenance crew, watering and caring for the annuals we’ve installed.
This job will include the following tasks:
• installing annuals, shrubs, and perennials in containers or annual beds for residential & commercial clients
• partaking in specialty landscape installs—rooftop gardens, green walls
• installing interior plant projects (containers, moss walls, or plant walls)
• basic landscape maintenance: pruning, mulching, weeding, trimming, edging for seasonal clean ups
• maintaining containers on an exterior maintenance crew (watering, fertilizing, weeding, pruning)
• maintaining interior plants on a regular route (watering, fertilizing, managing pests, pruning and cleaning)
• communicating with our management team in a timely manner about issues or challenges in the field for quick resolution
• delivering and installing rented plants for special events
• assisting with unique and special plant projects as needed
• keeping our production facility, greenhouse, and warehouse clean and organized
This is a 3 day to 5 day a week gig, for May and June, with the potential to go the whole summer if we’re still busy. Hours would be 7:30am-4pm, M-F, with the occasional Saturday morning.
We are a drug-free workplace and drug test on hire. We provide uniforms (both for working in professional settings and for working outside.
