Position Description:

The Pharmacy Technician Trainee is a temporary job title for pharmacy technicians who are hired into any pharmacy area without pharmacy technician certification. A pharmacy technician hired into this role must become certified within 6 months of hire in order to continue employment and move into a permanent pharmacy technician role.

Accountabilities

• Stock and restock medications

• Prepack medications

• Triage phone calls appropriately

• Fill medication orders

• Deliver medications to assigned areas

• Regularly rotate medication stock and check for expired medications

• Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures

• Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization

Minimum Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent level of education required

1+ years of pharmacy work experience required

Pharmacy Technician certification required within 6 months of hire

Skills and Abilities

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Good organizational skills

Positive, team work attitude

Works well with others as a team

Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and the internet

Basic math skills
