Course Description

Human performance and error, as well as other human factors considerations involved in the automation, design, and systems integration of crew platforms and control rooms across a broad spectrum of industries are examined. The focus of this examination is on the elements enabling improvements in the efficiency, effectiveness, and safety of operations as related to human performance. The impact of design variables and choices on normal human cognitive, physiological, psychological, and physical human performance, limitations, and error are examined in both theory and practice and included in the development of either a crew platform or control room design document.

Please note that ERAU policy requires that all adjuncts be physically located within the United States while working for the University, including during training. Presently, we are able to support work for new adjuncts from all U.S. states except California. ERAU does not support work from international locations with some limited exceptions for individuals who are residing and working from U.S. military bases.
Qualifications

Doctoral degree that has a dissertation, cognate, or 18 graduate credit hours in any of the Teaching Disciplines within the doctoral program will be deemed a Related Discipline.

The applicant must have experience in human factors design, operations, or applications in industry, government, commercial, or research settings related to aerospace.

The Undergraduate Programs Office provides comprehensive academic advising services for approximately 7,300 undergraduate students. The college has a collaborative advising team focused on assisting students in developing and implementing sound educational plans consistent with their values and academic and career goals.

This Assistant Director position will manage the college's new online degree completion program. The Assistant Director will supervise and mentor a team of professional advisors, provide academic advising for a small caseload of students, and teach section(s) of the college's Haslam Leaders seminar courses.

Qualifications

Responsibilities include:

Online Degree Completion Program: Serve as operational manager for the Haslam College of Business undergraduate online degree programs. Manage all processes for undergraduate online programs. Collaborate with Vols Online and the Transfer Center on outreach and communications for program applicants. Develop, plan, and execute program-level orientation for incoming distance learning students. Collaborate with Haslam's Technology Enhanced Education team to facilitate online course development. Collaborate with academic departments and faculty to manage student enrollment and facilitate online course development. Serve on campus-wide online program management network. Manage publications and website content for online degree programs.

Supervision & Leadership: Supervise staff of 4-6 professional academic advisors. Provide guidance and mentorship in academic advising development and assist in the resolution of issues, problems, and concerns. Evaluate staff performance through check-ins and annual performance reviews. Foster professional and personal development through goal setting. Serve on college and campus committees related to academic advising, advising policies, professional development, etc. as appropriate. Serve on directors' team for undergraduate programs and assist with office functions and operations as needed.

Academic Advising & Teaching: Develop advanced knowledge and understanding of the HCB undergraduate curriculum, majors, minors, and collaterals/concentrations. Guide students in the exploration of their goals, interests, strengths, values, and concerns through positive open-ended questions and intentional advising strategies. Educate students about curricular requirements, academic standards, and academic milestones related to the business degree. Collaborate with students throughout their undergraduate experience in developing academic plans that meet goals and future aspirations. Teach BUAD 100 and BUAD 210, seminar courses in the Haslam Leaders series curriculum.

Required Qualifications
• Master's degree
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in academic advising, distance education programs, or related higher education experience
• Proven ability to develop and implement programs
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with supervision of professional staff
• Experience working with distance learners, transfer students and/or non-traditional students
• Teaching experience at the college/university level
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to relate to a diverse university community (students, faculty, staff, alumni, and families)
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of academic advising and student development theories and approaches
