Position Description

The School of Engineering at the University of Mississippi invites applications for a permanent non-tenure track faculty position at the INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR level to begin in August 2023.

Primary responsibilities will include instructing undergraduate engineering courses such as statics, engineering mathematics, mechanics of materials, materials science, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and circuits. Additional duties may include advising students and student organizations as well as participating in recruiting and orientation events. Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in an engineering discipline before beginning this position.

Competitive candidates will have demonstrable teaching ability, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and an energetic commitment to undergraduate education. The opportunity for advancement to the rank of Instructional Associate Professor and Instructional Professor is available.

• Monitors the transactions of banks accounts for Payroll, Financial Aid, Accounting, Accounts Payable and Bursar's Office.
• Coordinates with Financial Aid office to minimize over-awards to students and reviews financial aid advances for payment. Negotiates payment arrangements with debtors, including third-party agencies.
• Maintains Office of the Bursar website.

The Department of Criminal Justice & Legal Studies at The University of Mississippi is seeking applications for a nine-month, non-tenure track position at the rank of Instructor. Position Description

The University of Mississippi School of Law invites applications and nominations for visiting professors during the 2023-2024 academic year. Depending on the courses that are being taught, we are flexible as to one semester (fall or spring) or full academic-year visitorships. Appointments will be at the rank of visiting assistant, visiting associate, or visiting full professor depending on experience.

In the alternative, the University of Mississippi School of Law also invites applications and nominations for our VAP program. VAPs spend four semesters (Fall 2023 through Spring 2025) in residence at the law school, gaining both teaching experience and the opportunity to devote substantial time to research, writing, and other scholarly pursuits. VAPs are given the opportunity to present work in progress to the Law School faculty and, more generally, to receive feedback and mentoring from faculty members in preparation for the academic job market. Course loads and teaching schedules are devised with sensitivity to the timing of the job market process.

We are looking for candidates to teach a number of courses including Contracts, Constitutional Law I and II. Bankruptcy, Secured Transactions, Remedies, Conflicts of Law, Religion and the Law, Critical Race Theory, Political and Civil Rights, Race and the Law, and Intellectual Property.

Qualifications

A candidate must have a J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school and a commitment to teaching in an environment dedicated to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students. We look for innovative faculty with a preference for both practice and teaching experience. Responsibilities/Position Description: The University of Mississippi is seeking a 12-month tenure track Director of Bands at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. This faculty member will conduct the UM Wind Ensemble, teach courses in instrumental conducting, as well as other courses as appropriate. The Director of Bands will provide artistic, curricular, and administrative leadership for the band program, which includes supervising band graduate assistants and administrative staff. Other administrative duties include budget management, inventory, scheduling, and organizing and participating in recruitment activities. The successful candidate will demonstrate an innovative and energetic approach to recruitment, establish relationships with band directors and music teachers in the state and region, and will collaborate with studio faculty and music... education faculty to promote the growth of the Music Department. The Director of Bands will maintain a regional, national, and international profile through scholarship and creative activities in the wind band field, will demonstrate a commitment to performing repertoire that is diverse and inclusive, and will stretch the cultural, artistic, and aesthetic range of performance experiences to which students are exposed.

Minimum qualifications: Emerging or established national reputation as a wind band conductor and pedagogue. Master in Music and significant experience as a university/college wind ensemble director. Significant record of scholarly/creative achievement commensurate with the rank of Associate or Full Professor. Sustained record of excellence in teaching at the secondary level and/or college level. Proven record of developing and maintaining recruitment activities, continued commitment to scholarship and future creative activity.

The University of Mississippi Band Program boasts a welcoming and student-centered environment. There are four concert bands at the University of Mississippi that perform multiple concerts throughout the spring semester, and the Wind Ensemble performs yearround. The UM Wind Ensemble has performed at the Mississippi Band Directors Association State Clinic on several occasions (2021, 2018, 2016, 2015, 2010), and hosted and performed at the CBDNA Southern Division Conference in 2010. The 300+ member marching band, The Pride of the South, has established itself as an accomplished SEC performing ensemble that is on the cutting edge of show design and fan engagement. Although many of the members are music majors, the marching band includes an even higher number of students that represent many other academic disciplines across campus.
