As part of the NPR Digital Media team, you will serve as the strategy and product lead... for NPR’s email and social products. You’ll work at the intersection of NPR divisions to grow and diversify our digital platform audience and facilitate the audience’s journey toward an engaged, long-term relationship with NPR and its Member Stations. With email, you’ll run NPR’s Salesforce Marketing Cloud instance and our cross-divisional execution of high-profile newsletters and campaigns, using tools, data and collaboration to optimize the benefits for both the audience and NPR’s goals. With social, you’ll manage NPR’s relationships with the leading platforms and coordinate among the many engaged NPR teams to ensure we have the information, tools and support necessary to excel. Altogether, you will embrace the evolving technologies in the email and social spaces to help build the future of NPR’s audience engagement.

Responsibilities
• Collaborates with cross-organizational leadership to develop valuable strategies for growing the audience, diversity and engagement of NPR’s email and social products.
• Administers the Salesforce Marketing Cloud platform for NPR. Facilitates all editorial and marketing use of the platform for consumer email products, such as newsletters, alerts and welcome series. Advances NPR’s email templates, journeys and monetization.
• Manages NPR’s product relationships with major social platforms. Ensures editorial and marketing connections for feature launches, platform feedback, and technical support. Advocates for the interests of both NPR and its Member Stations on these platforms.
• Advocates for and implements data-driven strategies that advance users through the audience lifecycle across NPR properties.
• Collaborates with department leads and other Product Managers on cross-divisional, multi-channel campaigns aimed at advancing NPR’s strategic goals.
• Reaches and sustains new and more diverse NPR audiences on these platforms through thoughtful engagement, personalization and other enhancements of user experience.
• Designs, documents, and facilitates product best practices across NPR’s use of email and social platforms. Streamlines workflows and facilitates scalable training plans.
• Serves as lead for a small set of email and social support tools, such as email validation, social posting, form submission and analytics tools. Evaluates new tools as necessary.
• Maintains product relationships with socially oriented third-party text-and-visual aggregators, such as Apple News, Google News and SmartNews.

What We Are Looking For
• Platform proficiency - significant experience and achievement with Salesforce Marketing Cloud as well as strong understanding of email and social platform opportunities.
• Excellent communication skills - demonstrated success in building cross-organization collaboration and earning buy-in for product decisions and advancement.
• Excellent consumer intuition - through experience, internal data and industry awareness, places the audience at the center of digital engagement opportunities.
• Implementation aptitude - ability to discuss product architecture (technical, design and business) and translate strategic concepts into detailed requirements and execution.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills - comfort in leading data-driven decision making and collaborating with financial and analytics counterparts.

Qualifications
• 3+ years of experience as a product manager or similar product/project role.
• Significant experience with the Salesforce Marketing Cloud platform and key production tools including Email Studio and Journey Builder. Demonstrated success in administration and cross-organizational campaign execution on the platform.
• Experience with brand management and publishing on major social platforms and ongoing awareness of platform changes, trends and issues.
• Collaborative and welcoming communication style, suitable for representing NPR to platform partners and facilitating efficient and valuable internal information sharing.
• Experience with e-mail fundraising and/or direct response email marketing
• Experience seeking diverse audiences for sustained brand and product engagement.
• Experience driving cross-disciplinary Agile teams toward common goals.

As the corporate sponsorship sales team for all NPR network programs and platforms as well as NPR and PBS stations, National Public Media works with companies across a variety of categories and objectives to generate support for the public broadcasting system, while delivering breakthrough results for sponsors.

The NPR Corporate Sponsorship team is a nationwide team focused on delivering customized NPR sponsorship plans to clients tailored to their needs and built for success for both NPR and our sponsors. The teams responsible for designated geographic territories are located in New York, Washington, DC, Chicago and Los Angeles and are comprised of managers, representatives and coordinators as well as teams performing Marketing and Operations functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversee account executives and sponsorship coordinators in NPR’s offices in Los Angeles.
• Deliver revenue goals by platform (digital and broadcast) and deliver against MBOs prescribed by SVP Corporate Sponsorship.
• Create revenue goals and account lists for every Account Executive
• Work with Account Execs in formulating strategies to achieve goals and be present for a certain amount on in person meetings, including travel.
• Provide each member of the team a formal annual review and Account Execs have bi-annual account reviews to ensure that they are taking the right strategic approach to closing business, and performing to plan.
• Participate in NPM Management and Corporate Sponsorship strategy sessions
• Attend internal meetings regarding programming, marketing and operations issues
• Help to foster strong relationships with Clients and agencies.
• Cultivate relationship across departments within NPM and NPR to increase and enhance collaboration leading to increased revenue
• Work with NPM Marketing to develop materials and sponsorship materials for team
• Provide visible leadership and communications to the market via meetings, attending conferences and industry events.
• Build senior level client and agency relationships
• Represent NPM and NPR Corporate Sponsorships to outside producers and program partners.
• Drive new business across platforms
• Create an atmosphere that is Innovative, respectful, goal oriented and ambitious.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of 10 years experience of management and/or leadership in advertising sales in broadcast and/or digital media.

EDUCATION :

Minimum education experience, required or preferred. (Ex: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in work experience) Bachelor’s Degree
