Required Minimum Entrance Qualifications
Be a high school graduate or have certificate of completion of the General Educational Development test (GED); AND Have a minimum of two (2) years full-time paid work experience in building maintenance or general work.Have a valid Michigan driver's license.
Physical Conditions / Work Location
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIESA Building Maintenance Mechanic I must be in good physical condition, such to allow for medium to heavy work activities requiring the lifting and carrying of objects weighing fifty (50) pounds or more, and for walking, standing, bending for extended periods of time. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONSAn employee in this class performs job duties in a variety of County or HealthWest work locations including inside of, on top of, or outside of County or HealthWest buildings and facilities.

EVALUATION CONTENTThe selected candidate must take a post-offer medical examination (including back screen and complete physical) and drug screening test given by a County appointed physician before the first day of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the medical examination and drug screening test. When such check is conducted, an offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the criminal background check. Appointees must satisfactorily complete a probationary period before the appointment will be considered permanent.
