Job Description

Want to architect software, steer technical work of multiple teams, ensure we have an architecture which allow us to deliver high quality SW for automotive and industrial Ethernet products? Do you have hands-on experience with “C” for embedded targets, have a taste for good “C” APIs, want to spend your time doing both architectural documents, hands-on work in close collaboration with the SW development teams and System Engineering team – then you may just be the candidate we are looking for.

Microchip has an R&D site located in Hauppauge, NY. We are a team of HW and SW engineers, developing Ethernet network switches for Enterprise, Industrial and automotive markets. The site represents all the engineering disciplines from initial product definition, RTL design, SW development, reference systems and technical support. Microchip Hauppauge is part of Microchip USB and Networking Group (UNG), which have sites in US, Europe, India, and China.

Job Responsibilities

As SW Architect you will be involved in 1-3 projects at a time, ideally from project kick-off and all the way until we have a successful product. Many SW projects will start at your desk, where you will be responsible for doing the initial definition of the SW work and the associated architecture. Once a project enters the development phase you will be working with the team to fix architectural issues which come up, help overcome technical challenges, review interfaces/code, and offer technical leadership as needed. Your day-to-day tasks will often depend on the teams needs, but over time it will include both hands-on coding work, requirements and architecture specification and talking with customers.

Requirements/Qualifications

Education and Qualifications:
• B.Sc., M.Sc. or PHD.
• 12+ years of experience with embedded C programming and can read/write/re-view C APIs (header files).
• SW Requirement specification, including gathering input from standards, customers, and system engineering.
• Good team player skills, and not foreign to offer technical leadership on projects where this is needed.
• A plus if you have experience with: PCIe Switching, QNX, Ethernet, Managing small teams, SW security technologies, GIT, C++, ASPICE, Functional safety standards, Linux user-space/kernel-space, working with open-source communities, working with standardization bodies.

Join the fast-paced world of embedded controller design at Microchip, the world’s leading embedded controller solutions supplier. As part of our seasoned validation team, you will work on microprocessor-based products that go into tablets, desktops, notebooks, and embedded systems. You will be mentored and work on all phases of IC validation. This includes understanding all product functions from the design specifications, developing software and or hardware to exercise the device, and validating the product functions. You will create and execute validation plans and debug test issues. You will develop and maintain a reusable validation environment, including PCBs, firmware, software, scripts, test results and associated test documentation. You will work closely with architects, designers, and verification engineers.

Requirements/Qualifications

Requirements:
• BS/MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering. Master’s degree is a plus.
• Understanding of embedded microprocessor design and internal architecture.
• 10+ years of experience testing analog circuitry on ASICs. (Required)
• 10+ years of experience in programming for Windows and embedded systems using C and C++.
• 10+ years of experience with IC validation and test automation.
• Experience setting up and validating pre-production devices using an FPGA.
• Understand ASIC design, including architecture and microarchitecture development.
• Knowledge of personal computer hardware and architecture, I/O subsystems, address decoding, programmable peripheral ICs and keyboard controllers.
• Ability to read, understand and modify board-level schematics.
• Strong proficiency using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and other test equipment.
• Perl/Python scripting experience.
• Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Experience supporting customers using ASIC devices.
• Team player attitude.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work remotely with cross-functional teams across multiple sites.
• Willing and capable of comprehending and applying industry standard specifications such eSPI, QSPI, I2C, I3C, USB, SMBus, SPI, MCTP, PECI, PCI, Cryptographic Security functions, CAN, etc.

Any of the following skills would be considered a plus:
• Understanding of primitive cryptography techniques.
• Digital Circuit Design with ability to layout boards is highly desirable.
• System Verilog RTL Design coding is highly desirable.
• Block and Chip-Level Verification with UVM
• Pre-Silicon FPGA Design Emulation
• Synthesis and Static Timing Analysis

Job Description

Computer Products Business Unit within Microchip is looking for an Engineer II - Product to drive all facets of Product Support and New Product Development. Lead and work closely with global Engineering teams to drive success for our Computing and Security products. This is a high visibility position within a dynamic business unit at Microchip.
• Support New Product Development from design phase through mass production.
• Work with cross-functional teams to ramp new semiconductor products to successful production launch.
• Lead effort with Applications and Quality Engineering teams to support customer returns and failure analysis.
• Interface with internal teams and external suppliers to resolve manufacturing issues that are technical (fab, test, design related) and non-technical (supply chain, system related).
• Prepare and manage project schedule, validation plan, characterization plan, qualification plan, and material control plans.
• Manage development of Burn-In PCB boards and supporting hardware/software to be used in new product qualification.
• Drive continuous improvement in product quality, cost, and delivery while sustaining existing products.
• Analyze production yields and yield limiters to solve manufacturing related issues.
