General supervision is received from the Senior Park Naturalist or designee.

Duties may include, but are not limited to: participating in periodic tours of the park for special groups and for general visitors, explaining the nature of plant growth, technical names of plants, shrubs and trees, and propagation requirements; assisting in maintaining a list of different varieties and species in natural areas... collecting data on plant species at parks and other environmental activities via handheld equipment and computer software; assisting in the collection of tree inventory; assisting with installation of displays on propagation and re-establishment of native material within the park for use in other parks and public areas; assisting in conducting education or interpretive programs with age or audience specific focuses; conducting hands-on exotic removal requirement based on project needs and timeline; assisting with volunteer groups during scheduled events; performing maintenance and light cleaning such as picking up trash, pulling weeds, vacuuming, dusting, tidying restrooms, sweeping and mopping; and performing other related work as required.

Work is frequently performed in an outside environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, bend, climb, stoop, squat, kneel, lift from floor, file, and use hand to eye coordination. An employee occasionally will pull, push, reach and lift below and over shoulders, lift up to 50 lbs, use hand and finger dexterity, and work under stress.

High school diploma or its equivalent and six (6) months of experience conducting interpretative programs in an outdoor setting or a related position in organizations such as museums, camps, outdoor activities/environmental protection programs. Essential Functions

Enters data from telephone calls, reports and supplements into the FCIC/NCIC teletype system using codes mandated by the FDLE; queries, enters, modifies, confirms or cancels various reports regarding stolen vehicles, tags, decals, weapons, serialized articles, missing persons and runaway juveniles via the state computer.

Communicates with other law enforcement agencies via the National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (NLETS); obtains information via exact formats and criteria regarding vehicle and/or boat registration, driver licenses and criminal histories; verifies/confirms out of state entries; transmits and receives telefax to and from other law enforcement agencies.
Retrieves and files police criminal investigation information accurately, rapidly, and effectively.

Takes reports via telephone from public towing companies for entry into the statewide computer; telephone calls are entered into Computer Aided Dispatch (C.A.D.) System for Police service to towing companies.

Operates teletype machines.

Maintains various records and files; compiles and updates records.

Assists in the audit process to ensure all records are maintained as per the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Standards.

Performs criminal history research.

Answers telephones and provides information to the public; route calls as necessary.

Validates criminal record entries.

Performs other related work as required.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or its equivalent
