The Manager, IT Security protects the University’s computers, networks, and data against threats, such as security breaches, computer viruses or attacks from cyber-criminals, by assessing the security measures to identify any weak points. The Manager, IT Security facilitates the attainment of higher levels of customer service by directing internal teams in the execution of IT initiatives.
• Designs improved work systems by revising work standards, policies, and procedures, employee work method and utilization, and staffing levels.

The University of Miami School of Law's Clinical Program is pleased to announce that it is hiring a faculty position as Lecturer in Law and Associate Director of its Environmental Justice Clinic (EJC), one of ten clinics offered at Miami Law. The position is anticipated to begin on June 1, 2023. Applicants will be considered on a rolling basis until the position is filled. Applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible and no later than March 31, 2023.

The Associate Director/Lecturer will partner with the Director of the EJC in developing and implementing the Clinic's docket, cases, projects, curriculum, teaching, and other activities. The Associate Director/Lecturer will work independently and also collaboratively in managing cases/projects, teaching clinic classes, supervising students, and representing clients in litigation. The EJC is engaged in projects and cases before local, state, and federal administrative tribunals and courts, and other domestic and international fora, as well as other forms of advocacy, including factual investigations, report-writing, law reform and legislative initiatives, and community organizing campaigns.

The Associate Director/Lecturer will join the vibrant and supportive Miami Law clinical program, currently ranked in the top 30 on U.S. News and World Reports list of best clinical training programs. The position is designed for a lawyer with a deep commitment to environmental justice and its advancement in Miami, the region, and the world. The Associate Director/Lecturer will have the opportunity to participate in the academic life of the law school and in relevant academic and advocacy conferences and to collaborate with the University of Miami's Abess Center for Ecosystem Science & Policy and Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science (RSMAS).

Qualifications

Applicants should have

JD Degree (required);

At least three years of legal practice experience;

Experience in environmental law;

Teaching experience or an enthusiasm for clinical teaching, student development, and training;

A demonstrated commitment to social justice and public service;

Strong oral and written communication skills;

Strong organizational skills; and

A Florida Bar license (or willingness to sit for the Florida Bar).

Responsibilities

Job responsibilities include:

Work with the Director in developing and implementing a vision for the Environmental Justice Clinic that achieves the highest quality legal experience for students, representation for clients, and contribution to the community.

Contribute to teaching the classroom component of the clinic, including developing the syllabus, designing course materials, and delivering high quality instruction.

Take primary responsibility for several of the Clinic's claims and projects and participate in supervising students to ensure the highest standards of ethical representation.

Contribute to the law school, legal education, the legal profession or the public good through leadership, service or publications that foster the professional development of our students or advance social justice.

Commensurate with qualifications and experience. This lecturer position is a non-tenure track faculty appointment that has the potential to lead to longer term (3 year) contracts. The University of Miami is currently seeking a Sr. Program Coordinator to work at Soffer Clinical Research Center in Miami. The incumbent provides administrative support to faculty and acts as a liaison between faculty, students, and other Universities. This position assists in the development, monitoring, and reporting of departmental budgets.
Core Job Functions
+ Works closely with students to continuously evaluate their learning experience and improve quality and value of the program.
+ Registers students for courses using University procedures and systems.
+ Acts as an academic advisor for students in the program and as a career advisor for prospective and continuing students.
+ Develops strategic partnerships with external entities and organizations.
+ Creates monthly budget reports to ensure operations are within plan.
+ Assists with database maintenance and enrollment management.
+ Ensures administrative processes and associated forms for instructor services are completed in a timely manner.
+ Responds to various instructor requests and telephone, email, and internet submissions for all programs.
+ Prepares faculty payroll for the program. Plans and participates in open houses for the department.
+ Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Department Specific Functions
+ The Sr. Program Coordinator provides administrative support to the Adult Reconstruction Fellowship, Musculoskeletal Oncology Fellowship and Orthopaedic Spine Fellowship. This position is also responsible for coordinating the Medical Student rotations and providing administrative support to the Director of Education and residency program.
+ Manages Jackson Hospital’s New Innovation software for the orthopaedic residency program and assigned Fellowship Programs. New Innovations provides support to residency/fellowship training programs with rotation scheduling, evaluations, curriculums, goals and objectives, policies and procedures, manuals, monitoring of resident/fellow duty hours, and managing of resident/fellow personnel files. This involves compiling data, creating sessions, monitoring for compliance by residents/fellows and faculty, and creating reports.
+ Schedules and coordinates the fourth year medical student elective/rotations through the department of orthopaedics. This includes students from both within and outside the medical school. Ensures that proper documents for non-UM students are received from their corresponding medical school. Visiting students from LCME approved medical schools must apply through the Visiting Students Application Service (VSAS). This software is used to manage the applicants’ application material and rotation approval/denial. Orientates the medical students prior to the start of their rotation.
+ Responsible for gathering and distributing the monthly orthopaedic on-call schedule. Responsible for managing call schedule assignments into the University’s Spok software program. This is a communication network system purchased by the University to provide quick access to call schedules for faculty and staff. Acts as back-up to the Sr. Program Coordinator to distribute on-call schedule via e-mail to appropriate personnel within the department as well as across Jackson Memorial Hospital/Jackson Health System, Veteran Affairs Hospital, and University of Miami Hospital.
+ Responsible for the JMH bi-weekly resident electronic timekeeping system (KRONOS). Must enter the residents’ and fellows’ hospital sites for each two week pay period.
+ Manages fellow evaluations for assigned Fellowships. Maintains file on all fellow evaluations, tracks evaluations received, advises Director of Education of non-compliance by faculty, residents and fellows. Generates reports for six-month evaluation of fellows to the program director and Clinical Competency Committee as required by the ACGME.
+ Responds to electronic communication and written correspondence from applicants, students, staff, faculty and other University and outside personnel with inquiries related the assigned fellowships. Directs inquiries as appropriate to the Director of Education for resolution.
+ Prepares Business Expense Reimbursement Forms, non-employee reimbursement forms, IDRs and Purchase Requisitions pertaining to the Residency Program, Fellowship Programs and Grand Rounds. Processes travel for submission to orthopaedic financial office in accordance with University policies and procedures.
+ Assists the Director in the applicant interview and selection process. This involves preparing packets for applicants to be interviewed, organizing the interview day, coordinating faculty and applicant schedules for
+ interviews. Assists Director of Education in compiling data and files for the ranking of applicants by the Residency Selection Committee.
+ Assists the Director of Education in coordinating the day-to-day activities of the office of graduate medical education.
+ Assists the Director of Education in compiling and entering data for ACGME Accreditation Data System (ADS) software for residency program and assigned fellowships.
+ Assists with gathering and entering data for AMA Freida Report.
+ Assists with the onboarding and orientation of assigned fellows and visiting residents.
+ Assists with the off boarding of graduating residents and fellows.
+ Runs and distributes case log reports on assigned fellows quarterly.
+ Assists the Director with Annual Program Evaluations for assigned fellowships and ACGME accreditation site visits for the residency and assigned fellowship programs. Compiling and entering data into the ADS system, coordinating visits, preparing accreditation forms, entering faculty curriculum vitaes, etc.
+ Works with Program Directors to update and maintain program website, society website, and all other informational sites.
+ Other duties as assigned by the Director of Education and Fellowship Program Directors.
