DDS sits within the Pacific and Development Group (PDG), which leads an integrated approach to New Zealand’s diplomatic and development engagement with Pacific countries and is responsible for the implementation of the New Zealand IDC Programme globally.

The Service Support Analyst role is responsible for managing support requests by staff that... relate to the system we use at MFAT to manage the New Zealand IDC Programme. You’ll work directly with customers across our business (both in Wellington and at Posts around the world).
• You’ll use your skills to investigate and resolve user support requests and issues.
• You’ll provide system advice where required.
• You’ll manage escalations to vendors where necessary, and keep our people informed of progress towards resolution.

The appointment range for this role is $65,059 to $72,288 (inclusive of 3% employer KiwiSaver contribution) depending on experience.

We’d like to hear from you if you are an experienced adviser with the following skills and experience (full list in the position description):
• You will need to have knowledge of strategic and controlled goods, including weapons, dual-use technologies and emerging threats.
• You will ideally have experience in export controls, counter-proliferation, and related fields, as well as experience providing policy advice and guidance to government agencies.
• You will ideally have knowledge of relevant international export control regimes and experience working with other countries on export controls.
• You will need to have strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to communicate complex issues to a variety of audiences.
• You will need to have the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, businesses, and academia.
• You will need to have strong analytical skills, including the ability to analyze and interpret complex information and make recommendations based on that analysis.
• You will need to have demonstrated leadership experience, including the ability to manage and mentor staff, and contribute to the delivery of strategic priorities.

Ideally you will also have a good understanding of tikanga (Māori customs and protocols), with the ability to weave te ao Māori (the Māori worldview) into your work.
