• Works closely with the Judicial Vicar and the Director of the Tribunal to support the priorities as well as effectively responding to the exigent demands of the ministry of the Tribunal.
• Actively participates in Tribunal Staff Meetings and Diocesan gatherings.
• Tribunal Priority 1: Supports the adjudication of first and second instance cases heard by the Metropolitan Tribunal of the Archdiocese of San Antonio.
• Assists with the intake of new petitions over the telephone and in person.
• Serves as an Auditor for cases, collecting testimony from Petitioners, Respondents, Witnesses and Submitting Ministers, as assigned.
• Serves as an Advocate for cases, maintaining contact with one of the parties to explain the purpose of each phase of the investigation, the rights of each party and options available to the party at each phase, as assigned.
• Provides status updates on cases to the parties, submitting ministers, parish clergy and delegated parish staff (typically RCIA Directors).
• Makes contacts with government and religious institutions to locate needed information for case investigations.
• Writes case briefs, incorporating all testimony and documentary evidence, to be used to investigate the marriage for a possible Declaration of Nullity.
• Makes oral presentations of the facts of a case and evidence or lack thereof pertaining to the grounds.
• Receives and appropriately responds to feedback from the Judge and the Director of the Tribunal.
• Updates CaseMaster case records and maintains a case load, as assigned.
• Tribunal Priority 2: Actively engages in formation opportunities provided to the Tribunal Staff and supports Tribunal’s formation events.
• Tribunal Priority 3: Actively supports Annulment Seekers Workshops and Submitting Minister Workshops.

Summary: The Director of Family Evangelization and Faith Formation is the subject matter expert of the Church’s doctrine about the vocation of Marriage and Family for the Archdiocese of San Antonio. The Director provides leadership, vision, and content for providing foundational support to parishes and Catholic organizations in the topic areas that involve marriage and family life. This role incorporates the Church’s doctrine and teaching for Evangelization and Catechesis to foster growth in forming leaders in parishes and schools. The Director will provide opportunities for formation and enrichment of catechetical leaders, catechists, and others as assigned. The Director will also solve any issues related to use of catechetical materials for all parish programs that comply with the requirements of the USCCB and priorities of the Archdiocese.

The fundamental basis of this role is an integration of the New Evangelization and Missionary Discipleship in a pastoral de conjunto to serve the multicultural pastoral needs of children, youth, young adults, adults (as couples, and men and women as individuals) and seniors.

Requirements:

Position Responsibilities:
• Stay up to date on communication from the Church Magisterium and different coordinating bodies of the college of bishops (USCCB, TCC, etc.)
• Be informed of any important gathering or activity internal or external to the Catholic Church in National, Regional & Local matters pertaining to the role
• Review resources and recommend national and/or regional best practices for parish programs that support marriage preparation, marriage enrichment, faith formation, evangelization, and catechesis
• Discover and create innovative initiatives and trends for the New Evangelization involving the entire age spectrum (children, youth, young adults and seniors)
• Provide strategic vision and innovative content to further the Church’s mission and ministry toward marriage and family life that is based on the priorities of the Archdiocese and teachings of the Magisterium. Utilize and form specific content in support of the USCCB campaigns and priorities: pro-life, immigration, healthcare, natural family planning, education, global solidarity, and poverty awareness
• Uphold and create archdiocesan policies pertaining to marriage, family life, parish religious education, Sacraments of Initiation, RCIA, and other matters pertaining to the role
• Implement a cross-integrated approach to Marriage Preparation, Marriage Enrichment, Evangelization, Catechesis, and RCIA with relevant content from each of the pastoral specialists
• Collaborate with community organizations to further support for single parents (emphasis on single mothers and their children) and those who are separated, divorced, grieving, or those with same-sex attraction
• Create and maintain relationships with archdiocesan leaders in formation and/or support of a Marriage & Family Committee (3-4 members)
• Develop and maintain national, regional & local partnerships and relationships with Lay Ecclesial Movements, internal and external Church organizations
• Work closely with the Department Head of the Office of Communications to ensure information is posted regularly, to keep informed of Marriage and Family issues critical to the Church.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
• Master’s Degree in Theology, preferable in matters of Marriage and Family Life; and at least three (3) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:
• A thorough working knowledge of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the Directory of Catechesis, and current developments in the Church’s theology of the vocation of the laity, marriage and family life, papal and Episcopal documents, and Canon Law.
• Must be a Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church.

License and Credentials:

• Bi-lingual, Spanish and English speaking and writing skills are required.

• Update and maintain accounting journals, ledgers and other records detailing financial transactions in an accurate, organized manner within prescribed time frames.

• Answer inquiries from Pastoral Center personnel regarding policies and best practices.

• Generate monthly invoices for archdiocesan assessments and insurance premiums and email to location personnel.
