GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

You manage the implementation of the Museum’s conservation and documentation system, across all conservation departments and scientific research while working closely with staff in those areas to ensure a successful transition to the new system. You prepare and plan the launch of the new system, establish new workflows, and create best practices for conservation documentation. You are responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the TMS system and will continue to collaborate with conservation staff in addressing their documentation needs.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
• Plan system implementation and ensure all vendor requirements and deadlines are met.
• Manage data cleanup projects in preparation for data migration.
• Conduct thorough user and system administration testing prior to launch.
• Lead conservation staff in identifying and designing new workflows.
• Establish best practices and standards for conservation documentation in partnership with conservation staff.
• Create custom program configurations, including screens and security settings.
• Manage and plan system upgrades in collaboration with Manager of Collection Information.
• Serve as primary contact with the vendor
• Manage large scale data projects
• Performs ongoing activities and training to maintain and enhance TMS system

Education and Experience:
• Degree in Art History, Museum Studies, Information Science, or equivalent experience
• 2-5 years working with museum cataloguing or collections management
• Experience with The Museum System (TMS)
• Knowledge and understanding of relational database systems
• SQL Server skills (or other relational database skills)
• Experience with end-user training; verbal and written communication skills
• Organizational, proofreading, and analytical skills

COMPENSATION RANGE:
• Pay Range: $85,000 - $100,000

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the world’s finest museums, seeks an Educator in Charge, Teaching and Learning. In a typical year, the Metropolitan Museum of Art has over 6.5 million onsite visitors and since March 2020 has seen over 10 million online visitors to our virtual, hybrid and in-person programs and experiences. It is critical that we engage with both local and global contexts in new, exciting ways. We also wish to utilize and position our collection to encourage greater access and dialogue with and among scholars, artists, educators and families alike. This next chapter for the Education Department is guided by The Met’s overall Vision 2025.

You are a skilled and experienced Education leader who will serve as a key programmatic partner to stakeholders across the museum and with local and global communities. You will oversee Teaching and Learning programs and initiatives including program development for collections, special exhibitions, and new installations. You will develop virtual and onsite programs that promote cross disciplinary learning and cultural understanding through in-person, virtual, and digital interactive experiences.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
• Depth of experience conceiving and managing a range of programs for schools, educators, families, teens, as well as teaching practice, curriculum development and pedagogy in an art museum setting
• Develop and implement strategic vision and goals for the Teaching and Learning Division and lead evaluation efforts to determine success, changes, needs, and impact
• Proven leadership managing diverse teams and cultivating creativity and innovation
• Ability to initiate, foster and manage authentic relationships with partners
• Ability to foster inclusive and equitable experiences for various audiences
• Establish processes for program development that represent best practices, ensure smooth workflow, and effective collaboration
• Assess content, formats, and audiences of existing programs and propose innovations and initiatives to reach new audiences, and support new narratives and conversations onsite and online
• Oversee the area’s budget, analyzing and making recommendations for programs and work closely with the Chair of Education and Development to secure program support
• Supervise staff and instill high performance levels and accountability
• Ability to conceive, build and manage partnerships
• Establish and grow partnerships with key external organizations and/or leaders to develop dynamic collaborations, interdisciplinary approaches, and expanded audiences
• Promote direct engagement with works of art
• Provide variety and diversity in the visitor experience
• Foster local, national, and international partnerships
• Collaborate with other members of Education senior staff and with staff throughout the Museum on program ideation, implementation and promotion

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• M.A. in Art History, Museum Education, or other related field, or equivalent experience required
• 7 years related experience within an art museum;
• 5years of demonstrated experience in museum education and gallery teaching
• Track record of developing and managing a complex schedule of inclusive educational and public programs related to special exhibitions, gallery rotations, access, community and special projects that serve a broad and diverse audience
• Demonstrable record of collaboration with development in fundraising initiatives for Education programs in a museum context
• Experience with strategic planning, project management, staff oversight, and budgeting and financial duties.
• Demonstrated record of effective negotiation and collaboration with diverse range of stakeholders within a large cultural institution and with outside partners and organizations
• Demonstrated experience in collaborating with development colleagues in fundraising for education initiatives in a museum context
• Full familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

You will help shape, expand, sustain, improve, maintain, and protect the museum’s facilities, the collection, the public and staff. You will manage a wide range of short and long-term construction and facilities special projects, working in collaboration with stakeholders across the organization. You will oversee maintenance, general upkeep of all Museum properties, and operations of exhibition/gallery renovations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
• Plan, manage and execute all special projects that addresses the Museum's short and long-term needs, not limited to emergency response, mechanical systems, electrical, plumbing, building envelope and interior renovations
• Possess excellent knowledge of contracts, immediately get familiar with the Museum provisions, specifications, and standards.
• Grasp, review and track requests for Information, Change Orders, correspondence, and other related transmittal
• Manage internal and external business relationships – i.e. develop, maintain, and update project schedules including cost, construction plan, safety procedures and quality work plan
• Coordinate with other departmental leaders such as - curators, administrators, designers, conservators, and facilities to ensure all stages of a project is properly accomplished
• Occasionally assist in management of union shops personnel particularly as it relates to Museum maintenance, exhibitions fit out, construction and art installation
• Assist with enhancements and maintenance of The Museum satellite properties
• Ensure risks and Issues are tracked, mitigated, and resolved effectively
• Serve as liaison for capital projects
• Other related duties as assigned by management

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• 2 - 4 years’ experience in Facilities Management, Building Maintenance, Budgeting, Construction Project Management and/or MEP Project Management. Experience working in a museum/art environment a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field is required (Engineering, Construction Management, project management, etc.). MBA or equivalent certification in construction project management preferred
• Ability to read and comprehend construction drawings and specifications for all disciplines of work; delegate related direction to trades for efficiency and quality of work
• Prepare, provide updates and reports on productivity and project milestones on a cadence to management and senior leadership
• Experience preparing construction plans, safety procedures, quality work plans, etc.
• Manage internal and external business relationships, and to proactively cause and manage change as it pertains to special projects.
• Skilled in financial management of projects, organizational and time management
• Review cost estimates for changes to contracts for submission and negotiate, present final vendor’s agreement to key stakeholders and client for approval
• Knowledge of construction contracts and bid process
• General knowledge of building maintenance and MEP operations a plus
